Good morning Thursday! It's blowing a hooly out there, wild! I let Haggis out for a wee & he just looked at me as if to say 'seriously mum?'

Just had an hour & 10 minute chat with my baby , who missed an exam on Wednesday but sat an exam on Thursday , having vomited big style just before ...but they sat her at the back of hall incase she needed to be sick again!

When I was going through all the decision making of coming home first & leaving kids ( who are all young adults) one of the scenarios was what if they have to go to hospital . But I left with lots of ' tell the kids to get in touch if they need assistance in any way' and yesterday we did need help & help was there. I had said to DD1 , that DD2 needed her mum. And was told she had her sister ! Hopefully will start to improve soon. Poor thing but no exams for 12 days. Rest little one.

Yesterday was spent unpacking and more unpacking. The amount of paper used is incredible ,5 sheets per item so took 2 trips to recycle them . Will do same again today.

Living room is kind of sorted but the furniture that looked fine in my big, old fashioned house looks a bit out of place. But it's tidy and I can offer a seat if nothing else!

Friend popped in. We did a couple of boxes , unwrapped & chatted.

Chatted with niece . It's the wedding tomorrow !! They are going to make a donation to our Australian cancer hospital in OHs name and will be saying this in speech, so that made me cry a bit but at least I know that's what they will be saying so not a surprise and shock. I want happy tears tomorrow.

The joy and tail wagging from Haggis as we lifted sons clothes out of the box with my kitchen aid in it! (Still to open the box with the bowl & attachments though!) They obviously smelt like boy child and made haggis happy.

Old work colleague popped up to collect boxes & gave me a beautiful bunch of flowers , chrysanthemum and lovely big roses. Nice to catch up on her news & get rid of boxes.

In bed at 9pm. Exhausted !

1.Millionaires shortcake at work which someone had made. It was delicious and much needed at lunchtime.

    2. Senior colleague making me laugh about a couple of things.

    3. Made tea of a lamb dish which tastes really good and was fairly simple and a Nigel Slater recipe. Will make it again.

    4. DH went to see his Mum. He told her about her friend's husband who died but not sure how much she took in. Was expecting to visit him in hospital rather than go to his funeral.

    5. More books taken to the League of Friends shop.

    6. Watching DS2 doing physio exercises and complaining about them.
  • Mhags I had the same problem but in reverse. My eldest dd was stuck alone in a Melbourne hospital with a spider bite while her worried mum fretted here in England.
She was absolutely fine and I was so proud of the way she coped.
Get well wishes to your daughter.
    Oh and welcome home xx

  • Nice thread!
My cat just delivered six kittens and me and my family are like aawwwwww!!
Other than that, a beautiful sunny day it is!!
  • Was on 44th St. yesterday fighting through the mass outside the Schubert Theater when a call pulls up near stage door in front of me. Bette Midler gets out in front and goes in. She smiled and was gone. All the others milling just wished for a glimpse and missed it. By the way, she’s a tot!

Opera was good and BoP feasted on the Grand Tier. Crab cake and salmon. Then sorbets. Pear sober had BoP guessing. Tum was rubbed.

    More later!

    Get well soon Mhags's DD
    Oh wow! BoP

Pleasures since Monday - quickly as off to ICT in a mo

    1. Brilliant PhD interview. So far they have all been really good - i didn't like one respondent, but she gave me good stuff. The rest have been dolls.
    2. Our heating packed up - but the gas engineer came out same day (for a price) and we have a quote to replace the faulty part that could be worse.
    3. went to see the Carole King musical "Beautiful" on Tuesday - it was excellent. You really don't realise how many songs she had a hand in writing
    4. Washing dried - not really OS as I thought "s0d it" and put most of it in the tumble drier
    5. Out for a curry with DS on Monday, and nice chat with him on Tuesday before he left for ICT. We will pass en route shortly as he is coming back as i go...:p So tempted to stay now to see him, but he won't appreciate it - he will know I've done it for that reason, so I have to still go... Still gives me an excuse to take him out for lunch soon...
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Hello!

BoP DH really wants to do Intrepid Museum. Have run out of time on previous trips, but he did get to see it from our cruise ship last year, as we docked in the next berth! If you have time.....a visit to Trump Tower is free and fun. Ostentatious :rotfl: We had a lovely meal in the Trump Grill :o Tums were rubbed!

    1. DS2 enjoying getting his Cadets uniform.

    2. Poppy display is finished. Lots of nice comments from colleagues.

    3. Getting through the days when I really do not want to go to work!

    4. Series 2 of Stranger Things.

    5. Seeing some ex students come back to a careers event and talking to students about their success stories.......jobs, living independently, happy. :D

    Hoping RL calms down :)

Good morning , 'Tis Friday hurrah. 'Tis my niece's wedding hurrah! 'Tis the morning after the night before of a sleepover with a very excited 6 year old flower girl and I made it ...hurrah!

    For Thursday.
Big long chat first thing with DD2.

Briefer one with DD1 and the boy child is away mountaineering for 10 days so we won't hear from him.

Unpacked more boxes . Took the excessive amount of paper to recycle.
There is much stuff-age! I obviously haven't downsized enough! Still haven't reached the box which has cutlery in it or pans!

Went out for coffee with friend which was lovely. Have found my new favourite place , set in a local castle 's grounds and it's just glorious. Catch up chat with squirrels running along the garden wall just outside the window. This is 'new' since I lived here.

Sleepover child arrived with enough stuff for a 2 week stay! Had macaroni for tea. Made cupcakes for bridal party this morning, walked dog ( all she wants to do is take Haggis for a walk ( as in she has lead ) but he is so strong and road is busy and I feel I keep saying no,no...went a slightly quieter way on way back and it let her see just how strong he is ) , iced cupcakes...6 year old style...heavy on the mini smarties and pretty icing flowers!, big deep bubbly bath and a story read whilst she splash splashed...Auntie M ...do you gave bath toys? Well, actually I do but like everything else that's needed they're in a box!, nails painted and I was thinking bed was next but friend phoned & could they just pop in.

So they popped in with lovely flowers ...still to unpack my many vases but there was a large kilner jar so that would do nicely! Her daughter played with GN and I remembered I'd bought RTC chocolate eclairs so we enjoyed them.

Then it was bedtime...hurrah but then DD2 messaged me do had to give her a quick call...and then it was bedtime! The little person has slept all night, Haggis has slept all night & I've done a few bits in between.

Have a lovely day. I have an emotional one ahead . One of my favourite people is having the biggest day of her life. Much planning has been done & I hope it's all she wants it to be. I'm privileged to be able to get to share her getting ready part and to see her walk down the aisle will make me just as proud as if she were one of mine...because she has always been like one of mine. But I do it without my husband by my side and I know he will be getting a few mentions throughout the day. She is carrying his photo in her bouquet.

    Catch up tomorrow!

Happy Wedding Day for Mhags DN :heart2:
    BOP is all star struck.

Home now and first pleasure is off to pick up my girls soon, can't way for doggy cuddles.

Many happy hours spent in the National Portrait Museum, I especially liked the 'when we were young' photography exhibition.

A leg busting walk through the city up the hill to the Castle, eye-wateringly cold but fantastic views and packed full of history.

Found the most delicious cafe for breakfast, UrbanAngels if you have the chance DD their nut butter on sourdough with spiced apples would be my last meal!

I liked the feel of the city very much, the Architecture, the people, we will come back, possibly in the spring as didn't get to see the Botanical Gardens.

Extra pleasure of sleeping in own bed last night, nothing is quite as comfortable as your own nest.
