I haven't posted in a while.1 Re filled all the bird feeders and by the time I walked back into the house they were already on them!2 The lawns are mowed again, and watered around everywhere every other day.3 We don't seem to be eating as much anymore so stores and stocks are full, while my thoughts start turning to jam making again.4 We went for a long walk, and had a distanced natter with the neighbours.5 There's been some deep cleaning going on.15

Hello. Another day that’s felt like it’s gone on forever.
No walk over the fields this morning but was grateful to do the teatime one whilst it was dry as I just got in and the heavens reopened.
A day of much rain. Like proper rain! Good for the garden.
picked up a wicker nest of tables someone was offering for free. DD2 drove all the twisty turns country roads in the rain.Went to mothers. ‘I need potatoes’ which translated as ‘ I need potatoes now!’ Hoovered, washed floors, cleaned bathroom, did dishes. DD2 did cat litter trays ( her least favourite job...but would you rather do the loo?) and put delivered shopping away. Then we had to go and buy blooming spuds! Then it’s been an afternoon of not overly much. Hoovered, washed floors, cleaned bathrooms...oh there’s a theme!Son made chicken fajitas for tea.14 -
1) slept in till 8:30 yay restarted the morning service radio 4 which was from scotland this week - very thought provoking
2) then our own cathedral service via zoom - a few more joined, including some who have moved from Dundee - the joys of virtual church
3) then off to deliver a couple of books - Peter May's Lockdown to neighbour and Salt Road to gbf who lives 3km away - both left on door step, ring bell, step back
4) the fairies have been to Invergowrie - lots of fairy-size doors which certainly brought a smile - one here with spaniel for scale
5) ys organic chicken and roast spuds for supper yum yumMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) A lie in.
2) Bigger son went on a bike ride with my brother.
3) More muck from the farm! Threw muck about on the allotment and planted 10 courgette plants.
4) More work in the garden. Found the hollyhock seeds had grown in a pot of Chinese lanterns so I transplanted them to a border. Put self seeded trees on the roadside with a "free" sign.
5) Second coat of paint on the fence.
6) Set up an escape room for my mum, dad and brother. Watched them from down the drive.
7) Had pea shoots in my hummus sandwich at lunchtime, off the allotment. Picked rhubarb so had crumble after tea.
8) Phoned my school friend.
9) Caught up with Gogglebox and the Last Leg.

Pleasures for yesterday
1. Looooong bathy in my newly repaired 'big bath'. Watched line of duty series 2 episode 1
2. OH went to see his mum - a pleasure for her but also me as it was quite refreshing not having him mithering around. Don't get me wrong, i like him being here but was nice to get a day to myself.
3. Cleaned the bathrooms listening to some podcasts, and the bedroom and clean sheets
4. Cooked roast beef with the trimmings - it's the first sunday roast i've cooked this year.
5. Family film night - OH's choice, "The Post" - tho i confess to being confused.
Have a nice day allI wanna be in the room where it happens14 -
For yesterday,
In the garden for most of the day, took some privet cuttings as gaps where elder removed, used three different methods for cultivation so will be interesting to see which takes best.
The nepeta in flower and the amount of bees buzzing around it.
Lunch outside and the glass of rose cider that went with.
Early evening walk and watching a big old heron flying above our heads.
Enjoyed the repeat of Maigret.15 -
Another lovely day.
DfV. I'd forgotten the Desiderata. Don't know how I managed that . It was everywhere in the sixties. Anyway, it's now saved in my phone, and I'm glad to have it back. Thank you.
Made an apple crumble yesterday. Can't begin to count how many I've made in my life, but yesterday I forgot to put sugar in the crumble! Even stranger, I realised when I got it out of the oven! So I sprinkled sugar on top, scratted at it with a fork and put it back in the oven for 5 minutes. Do you know, I think it was better that way!
Going to meet a friend this afternoon. We will sit on a park bench, distanced of course, and chat. Visions of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore come to mind!
Happy 🌞 day everyone

A few years ago my lovely neighbour gave me a plant that has rubbery type leaves but during the warmer months produces stalks upon which a flower sits. It's quite unusual, to me. I never do anything to it but it continues to thrive. That is the only deliberate plant in my garden. However.............
I was sitting out there for a few minutes marvelling at how pretty my weeds are, buttercups etc and how I have accidental 'Prarie Planting' with my long grasses. Absolutely lovely. And all for free !
Parents and loved ones all okay although my 80 year old Dad has gone back to work because of Boris. My dad's thinking is that he cannot work from home so he has to go back to the shop. He has no customers as his industry is hardest hit (catering) but he loves sitting outside the shop chatting to passers by. And tinkering/fixing equipment.
Hope you are all well and happy.....
have a lovely day

Hello. Today felt less long which is better...may have something to do with not waking up until 7.40am. Very quick doggy walk and then I went to supermarket. Much better when it’s almost empty. Got a lovely bouquet of flowers that was RTC.Had a nice chat with a colleague who was out walking at same time.Bedroom is much tidier than it was. New to me mirror in place.
also tidied bottom half of airing cupboard. Which is mainly Christmas stuff. Cushions for the festive season all smooshed into vacuum bags.Had to drive to other end of town to drop something off at a friends ...holy moly speed bumps and potholes. And with everyone a rattle from beneath the car. Son had a look and something is hanging down. Anyway had a nice chat at the doorway.
made a lovely lasagne for tea.Nice chat with friend on phone.A day of rain and coolness...come back sunshine.13
