Last few days.
Cold here, which is keeping me in but crossing off annoying small jobs in the house.
Planted a lot of perennials last year with mixed success. Some are looking healthy. Wish I could remember their names.
Student tea last night, beans on toast and a bottle of larger. It was so good.
Plans for returning back to the office next month. A ton of H&S landed in my inbox but mostly common sense. Only one of our guys uses public transport so he must stay at home.
Boy cat following me everywhere I go. They are such a comfort.15 -
So yesterday I decided to put the rest of the bird seed and staleish bread on a tray covered with foil. Just to keep it all in a smaller area so that I could check at the end of the day that there was nothing left for Mr or Mrs Rat. For the last time.
Later I went outside to put something in our old but very heavy metal bin and noticed a wood pigeon sitting ON the tray. I thought it was guarding the food but quickly realised it was ill so dashed around to find a box and rags to put it in, out of harms way. I tried very gently to catch it but to no avail. I did manage to herd it into a safer area. Went back in and must have forgotten to put lid back on the bin.
At the moment we are having to put our food waste with our general waste as a different kind of cheeky blighter has absconded with our small food waste bin AND the beautiful rock I used to put on top of it !
You can imagine what I got up to this morning. I think every fox and rat had a field day during the night along with anything else you can think of. Have just finished clearing up.

On a lovely note......
Our lawn, which now will always remain a meadow, has beautiful buttercups and a weed with delicate lilac/purple flowers. A sight for sore eyes.
Our window cleaner is free of cancer.
My birds are still visiting and singing to me. (for the moment)
I have rediscovered loose tea as I couldn't get my favourite teabags. Lovely fuller taste.
Feel blessed.
Have a wonderful day

Afternoon folks, such a beautiful day again.
Not exactly a pleasure but busy doing risk assessments and putting plans in place ready to reopen the office next month, hence not had much time to post for the last few days.
Pleasures for today.
Lunch in the garden with Mr. M , still enjoying all the different birds visiting the feeder.Took the afternoon off of work due to all the extra hours I have done the last few days, took the dogs in the car for a walk around the local country park. Lovely and peaceful with hardly any other people and so nice to walk somewhere different to our usual lockdown route.
Made some masks for the family, which has been an ongoing project ( turned out well but not professional enough for sending out to others) , but at least it’s something, 3 layers of cotton with a pouch for folded tissue or kitchen roll . We all now have 3 each, one to wear, one in the wash and a spare.
Next weeks meal plan and shopping list sorted all ready to hit the supermarket tomorrow.
Making plans for Christmas with the family, I know it’s early and apologies for mentioning the C word in May, but it has given me something to look forward to.
just off to chill in the garden with a cup of proper coffee and my book.Well Behaved women seldom make history

Art'noon
Pleasures for yesterday
1. made a start on the latest batch of marking - i think i can get through them fairly swiftly.
2. Did some more viva prep - am avoiding youtube on this subject as it made me too nervous. Tackling potential questions was better.
3. Did some gardening with OH - a chat with the neighbours
4. finished my Minette Walters - 2 books in a week! it's like being on holiday
5. Watched the last 2 SS-GB - not sure i ever really got to grips with what was going on completely..
Have a nice afternoon all.I wanna be in the room where it happens16 -
1. DS1 birthday -he enjoyed himself in the end and we had fish and chips (his choice). It would have been different in lockdown but had a conference call with work. There is a strong possibility of redundancy but he was better at the end of the call than at the start. He is starting to look for other jobs. He has this month got himself out of debt which ex girlfriend caused and is back to his old self after the very toxic relationship.
He did enjoy his day and among other things he wanted a gym bag which hopefully he may be able to use in the next few months.
2. At work I saw a patient - it is very rare nowadays. It allows me to enjoy the day
3. Chat with a friend on the phone. We are meeting up on Friday to exchange birthday presents and going for a short walk.
4. Manager is allowing me to take a day as compassionate leave for my sister in law funeral. I was surprised if was easy. No date for funeral yet.
5. The kindness of a colleague when I needed it. I was upset first thing .15 -
Hello. A bit of a feeling blah day. Bit of a dodgy tum so not doing much.
woke early feeling meh but did the doggy walk at 5.45am and rewarded with a deer watching us watching it. Was very cold and heavy frost but beautiful.

I'm glad your son had a good birthday, VL.
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) A lie in.
2) Cracked on with the garden again! 4 sacks of muck left out at the farm so we took them then dropped the bags back and left a thank you note and 2 courgette plants. Took all the bricks to mum and dad's to put in the gateway of one of the fields (in the mud to make it easier to get the tractor in and out). Planted 3 aquilegias and 3 lupins from eBay. Swept and tidied, Cleaned the shed out.
3) Walked to the weir with bigger son.
4) Tasty tea of pasta with a leek, cream and seafood sauce.
5) Did the virtual pub quiz.
Bit of a sad day in some ways. A couple in the next village died from Coronavirus about 2 weeks ago. We had known them for 40 years and they were always so enthusiastic about everything they did - they had a marvellous garden, aviaries and just entered into everything locally. They were also responsible for sorting out the village church when it was empty and condemned years ago. They had left very detailed notes about their funerals (a joint one now, sadly) but of course none of it can be put into practice. Instead, they are having a cortege (?) so everyone can stand outside at the right time. Mum has been phoned with the list of hymns they wanted (she is the organist, so not as random as it sounds!) which she will play at the right time. No one will hear them as she'll be in her dining room, although dad will probably sing them with her. I had to zoom down with the right music score as mum could only get one on the internet and has no printer ink. I feel very sad about the whole thing.
