  • Yep...I'm not keen on mince pies, Christmas pudding, etc either.

Just had dinner and it was tomatoes, steamed spinach and alfredo sauce (ie vegan recipe made with cashews, nutritional yeast, onions, etc). Served with sourdough bread.

First time of making the sauce. Decided I like it and its versatile/quick enough to do with a noticeable number of things. The "recipe" is the easiest there is - ie shove everything in my Vitamix blender and blitz. Job done:)
  • I really fancy some peanuts after someone on here mentioned them.

The shops around here are mostly run by Indian people and are open all the time and will probably be open tomorrow for a few hours if I did want to go out and get some!

I have a big bag of salted peanuts as well as some unsalted mixed nuts.

I prefer them to crisps most of the time :)

I have no xmas food in at all, the children are all abroad this year and I'm off to best friends in the morning and staying through boxing day :) today has been a pretty normal day really
dinner was a chicken breast stuffed with soft cheese, leeks and peas (sons gf came over for dinner thursday and I cooked the same, it was cheaper to buy 3 breasts so I had the 3rd tonight)

my contribution to xmas dinner is root mash so that is cooking at the moment :)

Snowballs... love it. I don't buy a bottle of advocaat because there's so much in there! I like to make mine in half pint glasses. I bought a bottle for somebody a couple of years ago and they got hooked... and tonight when I went for my tea they had a half finished bottle and a fresh bottle there ...and the lime/lemonade and a big glass for me.

I "got told off" for not sipping it, but knocking it back (I drink it like lemonade!). I had three :)

Had my dinner, then seconds ... but then couldn't move, so we sat it out for a while before desserts.... which we never got round to. Still full :)
    Home now.

Picked up a packet of crisps in passing, but put them straight back down again as I haven't got room for them, so wouldn't do them justice.

I'm having a wee noodle on here will I'm waiting for the washing machine to finish.....
The kids have departed to the pub and my sister home to her bed.
I thoroughly enjoyed my Bloody Mary and steak dinner but was too full to contemplate any mince pies or stollen though did a nibble a teeny whisky cookie my nephew's gf made, it was lovely even though I'm not keen on whisky.:)
I'm sipping a Baileys just to round the evening off, will sort out the washing and then it's cuppa, book and bed time. I'm ready to get all cosied up in my comfy bed.;)
Talking about nibbles we opened a pack of pretzel snacks before dinner. They were bloomin lovely and only 75p from Morrisons. If you like a savoury nibble I can thoroughly recommend them.:)

Merry Christmas from me too. May your roasties be crispy and light.

I've started the day with a full and a small bucks fizz.

Daughter and sil are popping in for an hour later on their way to his mums. Tomorrow they all come here. I cooked the Turkey and bacon yesterday for Boxing day.

Today I will have roast chicken with all trimmings. Then will settle with my knitting to watch call the midwife and Strictly. Bliss.

  • I will be looking for a snowball recipe, honestly it was such a lovely drink, memorable. Maybe I can get half bottles of advocaat or maybe advocaat lasts long enough in the bottle. I`ll look into it before I go for a jelly next week

Cooked breakfast eaten, sausage bacon, beans, egg and toast. Just having a nice mug of tea before getting ready to leave. Next meal is in 8 hours and I am hoping not to eat nibbles. Got the village church service when I get there and dgs is reading. Must remember to put money in my pocket for collection.

I am pretty sure that by the end of the day, I will be glad to toddle back in my car, 75 minute drive. I have some good overspecs that stop car headlight glare, makes driving at night much easier. I am having normal food tomorrow, probably a nice stir fry again, it fills me and I get a good fill of veg. I have made sure to record a couple of things from tv tonight, most tv is dreadful, at the moment all cooking or cartoons or endless repeats.

Mine is simple, I "do it by eye" rather than use a formal little measure.
But it's along the lines of:
Get a big glass, just shy of half a pint in size, a large wine glass
One shot/one measure of advocaat, about the same of lime cordial.
Top up nearly to the brim with lemonade.

If you CBA then you'll need cocktail sticks balanced across the top with some little bottled "bar style" cherries :)

By eye it's "small splash ... small splash about the same size .... top up"
