    :rudolf::santa2: safe journey Andrew.
Just had usual 2 toast, I'm still feeling yuk. The thought of food even drink is not appealing, and I was so looking forward to spending my time off with family, doing the indulgent eating and drinking, without worrying about being in work. I'm eating but not enjoying it, and I'm mostly drinking water.
Still I'm lucky to have my family here , I'm focusing on what needs to be done today, so wash the glasses, prep the veg, thanks for the tips PN , j will do fat parsnips, it's always the thin bit that burns! Need to get everything left in the freezer out,to defrost apart from the potatoes, I'll cook from frozen. I have to say PN, yours look great.
I'd like to thank you all on here, for your help, and chat this last year and hope you all enjoy Christmas, and wish everyone a happy new year.:xmassign::xmastree::snow_laug

    Morning all
A stay indoors day, I am not going out to face the last minute[STRIKE] loonies [/STRIKE]dedicated MSErs looking for YS bargains

Leisurely breakfast, ginger preserve on toast + cuppa
Lunch, no idea, may be another bacon sarnie
Dinner, no idea, with rich Christmas food from tomorrow on I think I will try & keep it simple today, and CBA anyway. Could even finish up as a crisp sandwich

I fancied something stodgy and filling, so I made a bacon and onion roll with suet pastry, took literally five minutes to make it, and 45 minutes to cook it. I did it like a swiss roll but with chopped bacon and onion as the filling.
Rather than steam it as per your standard suet pud, I baked it, and it was still fine, the moist filling meant the pastry wasn't too dry at all.

Thanks, I have been thinking of a bacon & onion suet roll for a while now. I used to make a lovely one in my pressure cooker. But the thought of dragging the PC out and the faff stopped me. Now I am a man with a plan:T

Trifle, has to be made with jelly. And come the YS post Chrimbo time, use YS panetone instead of sponge fingers. No calories because it is "reduced":D

  • I LOVE jelly. I remember making a pint of jelly when I was a child, bought it with my pocket money and ate all of it

I am back from my cycle ride, normally meet nothing much on these quiet lanes, 4 cars today and not one flipping one moved over, so I had to ride at a standstill in the muddy widest bit, selfish twits, all rushing to get last minute things as though the world will end. Two faster male cyclists overtook me, haha I saw them slowing down ahead, not a good morning from either but I shamed them by saying it. Christmas does seem to bring the worst out in some, maybe they had hangovers :D

and I did the same with butterscotch angel delight, when I was expecting, ate the lot, couldn`t get enough of it. Must have needed the milk
  • I had PB on wholemeal toast and a blueberry yoghurt when I got back from walking the dog this morning.

I'm going to go back to bed and take a nap, why not? It is Christmas eve and we don't have anywhere to go today.:D I feel really tired for some reason.

    See you all later.xx:A

What are you doing on Xmas Eve?

I'm learning how to roll Rizlas.....

No tubes. I make my rollies by buying special tubes
    https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/268589226
There's a machine you fill with baccy and you put the tube on the end of the machine and give it a pull (like the old fashioned credit card machine actions) - and it fills the tube (which has a filter) with tobacco and it looks just like a cig.

But the distributors went bust 3 weeks ago; I knew this so had stocked up on the baccy while they sorted themselves out with new distribution networks, but I ran out of the tubes.

Down to Sainsbobs ... no tubes.
Back home, phone Mr T - yes we have tubes. Drove there, "ah, no we don't, we were confused" - but they phoned the Superstore who confirmed they, too don't have tubes.

So I was off to the small Co-Op, they don't sell tubes.

OK. Plan B: Buy a rolling machine - no CoOp don't sell those.
Back to Mr T - no they don't sell the rolling machines and I should try the "end of lines warehouse type shop on the corner" - hurrah, they had a machine.

Then it was back to Tesco for some Rizlas and little filters.

So now I have to learn how to use a little rolling gadget to roll baccy into Rizlas. What a peasant.... how did life sink this far..... *sighs*.

I've got to "make a box of cigs" for later as I'm out for my tea and so I pre-roll and pop them in a box, to be pulled out "just like real ones" usually.

I'm going to have to google how to do this.... just tried to do it and it's quite complex....paper first/last, roll it how/which way? ... do what?

    .

Easy once you get the hang of it, especially when using filters.

I can roll them with my eyes shut :o...perfect little blighters too :D.

Tried a machine once, nah! I prefer to roll my own, I think I'm more addicited to the act of rolling them than anything else :o

Sent you a PM, PN ;)

Well, that didn't go at all well..... I've "rolled" several ... unsuccessfully. Finally (but I don't know how), I managed a "loose trumpet without a filter" so pulled some out and stuck a filter in - but the hole was too big for the filter. Somewhere between there and the door the filter fell out ... back for another one. Got it lit, it didn't fall apart, but half way down the filter stuck to my lip and came out.... so I gave up and dunked it in the ashtray.

    :(

Cheers... I've some parts of dyspraxia - and for a lot of manual tasks my brain "works backwards" and I struggle to multi-task.... so I don't expect to be any good at it ....this year.

Meanwhile, back in the kitchen, I guess I have a nut roast to build. Off to fiddle with that instead :)

Years since I smoked, but I used to roll my own. Just using fingers not a roller machine

I had to use two hands but always admired the skill of those who could roll a fag with one hand, and those who could talk with a fag dangling from corner of their mouth

Some how reading that back it seems my role [or should that be roll?;)] models were not of the highest human achievement

Still undecided on lunch, but listening to body as advised, I am not really hungry so may scoff a mince pie if unable to make my mind up
