Merry Christmas.
* inserts a suitable "seasonal" smilie *
I've not made my mind up what to have to eat so I can't comment on that just yet.
It did occur to me late yesterday I meant to try to grab a pack of (decent quality hopefully) mini pork pies, you know the usual "2 or 4 in a pack", I do prefer the really tiny "snack pies" though if I can get those types, the ones that are about an inch and a half (roughly) in size. Mainly planned to eat them tomorrow or such but there are quite enough choices anyway really in reality so its not a big problem.
Just completely slipped my mind to get some a few days ago, I cannot recall having any the past year so I've excused myself on that as its not a "regular purchase"I'd not mind but I'd wrote it on my 'mini whiteboard' I have stuck on the fridge door. doh!

Dinner is served.... needed a bigger plate really
EDIT 2.10: And a clean plate. 3 weeks of researching/shopping/thinking, making lists. Pre-cooking sessions, boxing up, working out the timings ... getting the turkey on in the dark .... served up 6¼ hours later, with a raft of washing up and boxing up and moving things around/tidying up still to do ....for a 10 minute scoff!
EDIT 2.30: All leftovers boxed up and in the fridge. All washing up done. Kitchen all put back to where things should be - looks like nothing ever happened in there!0 -
It was quite nice having a lighter Christmas dinner, I don't have that stuffed to the gills feeling.:p I'm having my dessert later on.
I'm just watching a Christmas episode of The Simpsons at the moment.0 -

Well Done PN, I had my prawns & salad about 11.30 with a wee sherry, not long finished my turkey dinner and feel full but comfortable also had a mini mince pie with my coffee whilst HRH was on. Best go and do the dishes now and I'll get the cheese's out to room temp and have them later. Glad I didn't go down the trifle route - I don't really do puddings and anyway I much prefer a good cheese board, got a stilton, a brie and a nippy cheddar.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

I didn't buy one for today - I bought it for some time this week when I open the fridge door without a plan and want to see something exciting in there to grab
It's dated 3 January, so it could be eaten any time between now and then.0 -
I had a bacon roll for breakfast. Had planned smoked salmon with scrambled egg. However DD and SIL invited me out to brunch yesterday at a restaurant and had smoked salmon there.
Its been dry and mild today so did a bit of garden landscaping. I'd put down a bit piece of cardboard to kill off weeds a few weeks ago. I bought some landscape fabric in B n Q last week. So today I prepared the ground (I'm making a pathway. I'll order some gravel for it next week.)
I came indoors late morning as DD and SIL nipped round to swap pressies. I put a roast chicken in to be ready by 3. Went back out to dig parsnips and leeks. Did anyone see the tv prog last night with Mel and Sue?s Mary Berry made sauteed sprouts with leeks and bacon. It looked so lovely that I made that too. It's really lovely so will do that again. It makes a nice change to plain boiled sprouts and very tasty.e
Have Put My Pj's On Now So chilling with cuppa. Looking forward to Call the Midwife and Strictly later.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
I posted a quick snap I'd taken of my dinner, just before I poured gravy on it. Light was fading by then as it was grey/overcast and raining here today. Might as well stick it here too, as it's a CFO effort.

Tomorrow I have a birthday party at a friend's, Wednesday my daughter is hosting me for lunch. Today, for the first time ever at Christmas, I could do what I liked. So I had (lumpfish roe) caviar and cheese on crackers (separately) for brunch, and turkey whilst listening to the Queen's Speech.
I shall have some gingerbread later - the proper German stuff -and perhaps a slice of stollen, and a wee glass of port. Call the Midwife and Strictly on the telly, and I still have presents to unwrap. With being out tomorrow and Wednesday, I've had to work today to balance my schedule. That was fine, the corrections were straightforward and quite enjoyable.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again...
