I've not seen another person since I came home from my tea on Xmas Eve. Not even seen one outside the window as the garden fence is 6' high, so I can't see beyond there unless I get up and walk outside of the fence, then sit to wait until a neighbour walks to their car.

    :)

My immediate adjoining neighbour uses the house as their 2nd/holiday home so they're rarely even there. The next closest all but moved out a month ago, I've seen their car for 10 minutes here and there as they check for mail/whatever, but that's it; never spoke to them anyway.

Similar yesterday and today and will be the same all the rest of this week but at least personally, I have this peace and quiet which I much prefer to shoving crowds and house babble and noise

Checked my neighbours house again and the rain crept under the window to wet a bit of their sisal carpet, I have no hair drier or I would see to it but they are back tomorrow night, I will leave a note in their hall

Cooking today, proper food and mostly veg. Lunch roasted, swede, potato, onion, garlic, herbs, roasted an hour and will top with oiled salted kale for another 10 minutes. Also cooking now in foil, mackerel. Enough roasted veg for tomorrow too. Also making soup for 2 days, celeriac and parsley. I have frozen the stollen but left 2 small bites out. I will eat the maltesers later, just so I am not tempted by them tomorrow, they are not like they used to be

Very sunny and warm in my living room, open plan with dining and kitchen, very conduicive to recliner and reading/knitting or dozing this afternoon
  • I had soup and two WM rolls with marg for breakfast today as I woke up quite late. I was meant to have a smoothie, but my husband is sleeping as he worked a night shift last night and I didn't want to use the blender. I will wait until he gets up.

I'm making a chickpea curry with brown rice for lunch as I have loads of red onions in the fridge.

I have shopping coming today and I ordered lots of fruit and veg as I want to eat more healthily.

I have lots of bagged salad leftover so I'm going to have that with a raw salad I will make with avocado, sweet corn, cherry tomatoes and fresh coriander with a simple dressing of extra virgin olive oil, juice of a lime, salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper. It's surprisingly delicious and I haven't made it in a while.:)

I'm not sure that salad with fill me up completely so I might have a cooked veggie burger with it.

I'm sure that I will eat some choccie coins too later.:D

Discovered a new (to me) cocktail - a "White Russian" which is a mix of vodka, tia maria, baileys and milk over lots of ice and topped with a sprinkle of cocoa powder, very yummy:D .

That is strange as I was thinking about a cocktail I had years ago on Christmas day that my mum and aunt made for me, Black Russian. I couldn't remember the ingredients so I googled it yesterday, vodka and coffee liqueur. They put some coca cola in there too.

I had a big bread roll, turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce.

I'd not bought/eaten cranberry sauce before this year, we never had it at home .... it's completely pointless isn't it. There's nothing special about the taste (L1dl/Batts).... it's "just like jam, but not so sweet".

    I'll not bother again.

I'm not a fan either PN. Nor of chestnut puree, even though I love roasted chestnuts.
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j

Woke up, looked out of window, blooming snowing, c'mon I'm well dahn sarf, not supposed to snow here. Went back to bed, the proposed trip into town for full cream milk for yoghurt is now postponed until tomorrow

Eventually got up, breakfast was mince pie:o
Lunch was turkey & stuffing sandwich, with very posh W/r No1 mince pie
Dinner is looking like sliced turkey, with LO stuffing & HM chips in the Actifry

PN, welcome to the world of Christmas trifle

Last night's full on Turkey Christmas dinner turned out a success, even enjoyed the cold LO roasties that I noshed as I was about to put them away. The sprouts and leeks roasted well, but I think I got the timing wrong, they showed signs of carbonising before the rest of the meal. I took them out and bunged back in nearer scoff time, saved the day

    Good Afternoon :)

I've arrived home laden with food (home made quiches, sausage rolls, mince pies etc), and now unpacked, realise it's enough to feed an army - but I'm not complaining :). It was good to get away for a few days, although at the time I was absolutely dreading it. Read back briefly and am glad to see you all enjoyed a little company at some stage and of course 'lots of seasonal fare'.

Kitty, sorry to hear about your journey home. Mine was a lot easier although I did encounter a really heavy rainstorm, followed by high winds and then by snow :).

Glad to be back home and am now off to pick up the cat from his hols - no doubt I will be given the cold shoulder for the next week or two :)

My next random scoffings included one chocolate covered date and 8-10 chocolate fingers.

I then had two hot sausage rolls :)

I've sliced up all the leftover turkey - there's enough for two more meals there (total of 4 meals + 1 sandwich from the 800g breast); that's in the fridge for now, so easily eaten/accessible. I've also sliced/wrapped the leftover nut roast (two generous portions of two fat slices each) and popped those into the freezer.

Ah, food parcels.... perfect as you won't have to "cook" for 2-3 days.... then the chip shop's open :)

Glad you got through your visit OK .... you can tell the cat all about it now!
