Hi,
Any money saving ways of removing limescale from kettles and coffee makers? The commercial removers are quite expensive.
Cheers

Vinegar (left overnight - or min of a couple of hours - rinse well after)
Denture cleaning tablets ( use as above)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've just cleaned the inside of my kettle by pouring white vinegar into the kettle and leaving it to soak overnight. It seems to have worked a treat - there's virtually no limescale in there now and it was in a terrible state.0

nabowla - I did mine the same way yesterday - a little scrub for the stubborn bits (if you have stubborn bits) and it's great!
The main thing is, to descale on a regular basis so that the chalky deposits don't built up to a thicker harder layer.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Yup, I found that a little scrub with wire wool removed quite a few of the stubborn bits! The trouble is that I hadn't descaled the kettle before (bought it a couple of years ago) and live in a very hard water area so the chalky deposits had really built up. That said, I was really impressed at just how much stuff the vinegar shifted - it's almost perfect now. Might give it another go in a couple of weeks' time just to get it 100% and then will descale on a regular basis.0
