Sarah - any Speed foods are good but like you I try to have green veg. Fruit is OK but try not to eat too much as even though the sugar is natural it is still sugar.

Rather than snacking on fruit how about carrot sticks, celery, cucumber and a dip made with quark, garlic & herbs. Or HM hummous (recipe on website).

You need to try and have at least 1/3 Speed foods every day. It doesn't necesarily have to be with a meal (although that is the SW policy).

    Denise

I've been up to Tesco and got a wide range of fruit and vegetables all speed food. Ive tried not to have more than 3 portions of fruit per day as you say it's high in natural sugars. I don't like celery raw (cooked I quite like it) or cucumber but carrots I do so I might consider snacking on that every so often. I'm not a massive snacker though mainly down to not having time for it at work.

My lunches and dinners have all been 1/3 speed foods it's just breakfast that I struggle with. The only thing that keeps me full up is eggs so I try to have boiled eggs (if eating at work after the gym in the mornings) or scrambled eggs with beans at home. I'm going to try some of the different fruits I've bought to see how I am with those. It's normally apples bananas and grapes that can bloat me up early morning.

Planning is something I don't like to do for more than a couple of days ahead because sometimes I'll plan something but then not want it. I like to go with what I'm feeling like eating that way I enjoy it more. I do like my fruit and vegetables and even before doing SW my meals were in general very good. I spent most of my 20s living off ready meals and takeaways so I'm not one for those now. My biggest down fall is my sweet tooth. I like that I can have chocolate every day (within limits) on SW if I want to and still be on plan. Long term I can see SW really working for me because of this.

    So plan for tomorrow -

B - red currants and goose berries. Alpro dark chocolate milk HexA and scrambled eggs.

L - salad made with lettuce, peppers, tomatoes, gherkins, chicken tikka and a small dollop of sweet onion sauce (2 syns I've pointed as). It's a copy of the salads they do in Subway. I really enjoyed it but at £4.50 it's too expensive to buy every day. This is my copy of it. I've just had it for my dinner and it was amazing.

D - cottage pie, made with normal and sweet potatoes and butternut squash top layer, lean mince beef, peas, carrots, onions, herbs, stock and a tablespoon of gravy powder to thicken it up, Worcestershire sauce and tomato puree. Served with lots of cauliflower

    S - 2 alpen light HexB

Exercise- 10,000 steps and I might go to the gym

    Any feedback will be appreciated

HexB I'm struggling with because I'm not a massive bread eater not do I eat cereals much either!

I like to think I'm not too fussy an eater but writing that all down I do look like one :rotfl:

  • Thank you for your warm welcome. I didnt stick to plan last time and had alot of stress in work and family life and lost my way. I still have the stress, however the weight is now impacting on my health. My first week I lost 1.5lbs I was chuffed especially as I had such a awful week.

Don't force yourself to have fruit with breakfast if you don't like it Sarah . Certainly don't make yourself have bananas and grapes as they're not even Speed.
To compensate for no Speed at breakfast just go for closer to 50% at other meals.:)

I hope you're in a better place now Claire and this time you'll be motivated to make it work. :)

You've got me looking now bubbs . Morrisons sweet onion is the same syn value and so is their tomato and chilli relish and they're only £1.
I need to go to Morrisons for the lean corned beef.

bubbs I'm going to see how I go with the red currants and gooseberries for breakfast. I used to eat bananas a lot before SW but got fed up with them and grapes I still eat but at lunch normally. If I don't get on with it I'll carry on with more speed for lunch and dinner.

The sweet onion relish, I think the subway one is 1.5 syns. The one I got is by Frenchs so thought it might be close to that but added on a bit extra just in case. It's very nice I have to say, adds a nice flavour to the salad. I am a huge mayonnaise fan and I've loaded salad with mayonnaise (low fat type) in the past and never thought I'd enjoy salads without it so for me it's a good thing to have the sweet onion sauce to add and really enjoy it :)
