Welcome Barrie. If you have an idea how much you would like to lose over the next 5 weeks that this current challenge runs, I will add you to the spreadsheet.

My husband loves bread, and can easily go through half a loaf a day. Thankfully for him, he's an absolute beanpole and can get away with it

    Thanks for all the welcomes.

I would like to lose 20 lbs by 04 September. Hazel's Birthday!

Need to do the exercise as I am not working at this time. Just stopped last March and am thinking about finding another job. Hopefully my life changes with SW will get me back into the idea of work. I do not get any benefits as I have a Military Pension. With that and Hazel's wages we are now just spending more than we get so will need to get a job eventually.

30 years ago I could eat and drink like a horse and was about 9 stone. Stayed that way for about 10 years then it all went Pete Tong!

    Hello all,

I am Barrie and if its ok I would like to join you with my journey through my life changes.

My DW Hazel started at SW 9 weeks ago and I have been watching from close by. Last Thursday I decided to take the plunge and attended a meeting with her and joined up.

Looking about 9 months pregnant may have been the real motivation. I do have strong stomach muscles so can keep it in when I want but now it gets uncomfortable. Also my waist is above 40 inches. Also have small moobs.

    I think I am about 5 stone too heavy. 17st 7lb (5ft 10in)

I have chosen a target weight of 14st to start with. Aim to get to 12st eventually. Most of my weight gain has been in the last 7 years since I stopped smoking.

This is going to be a real change for me because I love Bread. can eat 10 to 15 slices a day. Managed 29 slices of toast in 1 day in the late 90's

Don't take sugar or milk in coffee or tea but do not drink milk.

I am lucky because I love most Vegtables and lots of fruit so that will help. Don't like nuts. Love rice and pasta.

Can exercise when I put my mind to it. Have done 3 walks since Friday above 3 miles with Hazel. Need to work up to running. Managed to lose around 3 stone through running in 2 months in the late 90's so I can do it although I am past 50 now.

I have been reading through the thread and found some great ideas. Most of our household meals are about 10 to 14 basic meals that we tweak slightly. We need to be more adventurous and what I have found on here will help.

    Welcome :D
You can do it, i have always been fat:o but got fatter when i stopped smoking, my dh too, even though he does not go to group he has now joined me and i weigh him after i get back on a Thursday from group:T:T

    -3 for me

Quite shocked to be honest as ive had a bit of a funny week and work wore me out so ive not really done a lot over the weekend. I thought I'd gained in all honesty as id been eating quite a bit of chocolate but won't be doing it again.

Welcome Merlin and anyone else just joined. I only started doing it 3 weeks ago after coming off holiday as I bought the books and a few cook books off ebay as a package before I went with the intention of starting when I got back (was gutted as I paid a fiver for postage and turned out she didn't live that far away so could have picked them up after work), but if you're going to classes the meals in some of these books are fab and it looks like there a fiver each. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on the new pudding one mind, going to have a Google about them.

I'm doing a like fortnight revolving plan. Finding I'm spending less too (might end up spending a fair bit once a month but im happy with what im spending upto now).

Well done everyone, keep up the good work though :)

    That's a great start dawyldthing.Well done!:T

Welcome barrie . You're in a good place to lose weight. You and Hazel are doing it together and you have the time to exercise, shop and cook. You can save money doing SW as to be successful you need to plan ahead and only buy what's on the menu. So no waste and no need for take aways.

You'll need to plan other filling meals and snacks other than bread. Fried potatoes are good with a full English. Cold sausages and chicken in the fridge are good for snacking.

I have actually had half a syn today! :D When I got the salmon out it had a chilli sauce with it but surprisingly low syn.
