Today I am grateful for time with dd, for finding a sewing pattern we can both do, and for already having suitable fabric for it, for the Tour, for the sunshine, for acquiring my first NSD, for doing a mega workout, for dh doing some extra work at the mo, for still being able to knit, for sourcing some 'thank you' presents at a very cheap rate.

    Evening all...

    Today I am grateful for:
    1. A beautiful sunny day
    2. My health and wellbeing - and my gym
    3. My Nature walk and the peace it brings me
I've had a great weekend and start to July. The sunny weather is a definite booster... I have been to the gym and done my local nature walk on both days, and taken time out to just 'be'. I rediscovered a spiritual book on Shamanism [Journey to Freedom by Leslie Kenton] that's been calling to me - the last time I picked it up was March 2003 and I never completed it. Maybe now is the right time.

    Today = NSD number 2

Thanks Mothernerd for your inspiration. That quote - 'anything in life that is worth doing takes effort' - has come to me twice today - so I am taking that as a positive sign that I'm on the right road...

Love to MrsHubbard and to the return of your little one.

JoBloggs - loving your determination, and ability to put your mind to the challenges and succeed. You are always so positive. Thank you.

Love to all - have a great evening :)

Thanks for the add Mothernerd and for your supportive words, really appreciated.

So, #22 reporting progress against goals:

    1) 4/7 no spend days per week (to fit in with the NST 16 days goal) NSD #2 today!

    2) At least one store cupboard menu week this month - today's was a store cupboard / fridge rescue meal of courgette, onion & goat's cheese risotto, with garlic baked tomatoes (extra garlic to support personal health goal of reducing cholesterol & boosting immune system).

    3) Try to up my own income in some way (legally, of course)! Have sent CV in to a local gallery which is looking for someone on occasional weekends. It doesn't pay enough to be a career-changer, but does pay enough to boost the income a bit. I tend to measure this by "what would that amount cover" and actually because we're being frugal in the food department currently, it should just about cover the food bill for the month, so I'm happy with that. the fact it's also within the creative sector also really appeals to me, so let's see!

    4) My NST health goal: 10,000 steps a day (may have to manage this as total of 70,000 a week though)!
Yesterday's total 9727 - frustrating because I forgot to put my pedometer on first thing, so I reckon I'd have got the full 10,000 if I'd remembered! Today's already over 11,000 so I'll call it a day with that for today, so 19,727 / 70,000.

After a long walk with the dogs yesterday whilst OH was working, I also came up with another couple of goals to support JOYFUL JULY:
    5) No FleaBay shopping for the whole month - what can I say, it's been very useful but now it has to stop! Successful with this again today so 2 / 31 achieved.

    6) Frugal focus: sourcing instead of spending. Today's motivational quote (thanks Mothernerd) really "speaks" to me - this month isn't about trying to be frugal, it's about actually regaining my frugal ways and putting it all back into action. So, I've signed up to the Frugal Woods Challenge & have decided that any extras I think are needed should be frugally sourced by making, mending or swapping. 1st project: our bed valance has seen better days and the one I like is
£22.95, so that's off limits. So, I've got out the old one, spent a good hour on Pinterest, rescued an old sheet and fabric left from another project and am giving the valance a makeover. It'll take a while but it's a good project to keep me out of [money] trouble this month! :o

    Today's simple pleasures:
    :) sunshine
:) seeing Kestrels flying over the field
    :) getting on with it!

Hope everyone has a great Sunday evening, PN x

NSD number 1 for me :)

Had a nice relaxed day reading a book ( rereading really - I need a library trip ), watching telly, doing a bit of housework, napping and enjoying cuddles with Fluff. Hubby took Little Man to play with his cousins so had lots of me time.

Healthwise I'm starting small, today I managed to remember to do my pelvic floor exercises :D

Also did my cupboard and fridge inventory, loads in the baking cupboard that needs using so I made a coffee and walnut cake with only slightly out of date walnut halves.

Tomorrow's job is picking out books/dvds to sell and listing maternity stuff on facebook.

    Today's joys are :-

    Having some me time
Fluff feeding for longer and therefore sleeping longer, fx it carries on tonight
Little Man being so lovely with Fluff and giving him toys and stroking his hair

Can I start the month again tomorrow please:(

Dead dishwasher, broke my car, and been eating crap. Two spend days, two days of no exercise. Not a good start.
    Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18
    Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o
  • Evening everyone,

Well as predicted today was a spend day as I shopped for most my groceries although I didn’t make it to soft play as per my plan. Will need to pick up a few bits tomorrow as I’m going to batch cook some meals for the little one, will log off shortly and browse the cookbook for inspiration :)

I had £15.64 in my paypal account and have transferred that into my buffer fund. Been scrutinising my finances and come to the realisation that the first and last weeks of the month are the most expensive in terms of paying bills etc so I’ll need to keep a close eye on these weeks when my salary decreases. Am contemplating opening a second current account exclusively for foods/entertainment as I think this may work well for me.

The little one refused to have a nap this afternoon so has been down for the night since 6.45pm. I took the opportunity to grab a cup of tea, watch an episode of iZombie and read my book.

Me and OH were away in Glasgow this weekend so two spend days, no exercise (didn't even make my step target either day), far too much alcohol but did have a lovely weekend :D

Today I'm grateful for spending time with OH, a quick simple tea of egg, ham and chips :) and foo fighters at glastonbury on catchup.

    Hi Mothernerd
It was me who only lasted a week at the factory. I gave up on Friday but still have aching arms and back from all the lifting and stretching.
I will contact the agency tomorrow but have decided factory work just isn't for me.
The agency has a really high turnover apparently and now I know why.

I think too many agencies just want numbers in places and don't care about the suitability or even have knowledge of the job. From the other side, when we were running our own business agencies would ring up with (computer operater/programmer jobs) and quote experience with certain machines which I knew my husband hadn't used - they were just using spell checker to go through CVs. I was also asked (they seemed to get a lot of Australians working for them) if he could commute 200 - 300 miles each way daily (that's quite near where you are, isn't it).
Overtime done and dusted this morning. I just need to log it so it can be approved. Should see it in July pay - I worked out (roughly) what my hourly rate is (about £9.50). Saturday overtime is double time and Sunday is double time and a half from what I understand so it'll all help. I hope I see at least £100 after mr Tax Man!

I've also given the kitchen a quick clean and started prep for Sunday lunch - chicken is in the oven and potatoes and veg are prepped ready to cook.

Today should be a NSD so I should get the first one in the bag. I've also weighed in today and I've lost 2lbs since last week which I am really pleased about.

EDIT: Today has been a NSD so I'm at 1/14. I've also prepped a Quorn chilli shepherds pie - just needs going in the oven, so that'll be dinner sorted for Tuesday as Monday will be leftover chicken from today's roast. Wondering if I should freeze it though - don't know how long it'll last 'uncooked' in the fridge. I've also put aside two boxes of plain chilli too to freeze. Feeling quite proud of all I have achieved today to be honest - I've been busy!

    I'm proud of you too.
Hi all, took my laptop the the pc shop, they ran a diagnostic for free. Confirmed the hard drive was showing, but not working so they replaced the hard drive free as it was theirs I bought in January.
(They aren't allowed to install on my Alienware so I had to fit it myself, but it's not as scary as I used to think)

So laptop is now back up and running, although I need to re-install all my programs, firewalls and apps I use.
I think it is still time for a new laptop, but at least I now have time to look around and find a good deal.

    So still a NSD!

    Excellent save.
