My friend moved into his flat recently and Nationwide gave him a huge box of goodies; biscuits, food stuff, cleaning things etc. It was pretty impressive.

I move into my place this weekend coming...lets see if Santandar offer anything :)

I got that too. Not your custard creams either. Them German chocolately ones.

Seems to be a running theme with lenders and developers giving new borrowers/buyers mugs as gifts... there's a certain irony to that given the current state of the market and level of house prices.

I never received anything, but I remember reading donkeys years ago about lenders giving a free car with certain mortgagers. Thought I must be remembering it wrong, but an online search quickly gave this:

Not long before exchange, we got a gazumper from the EA.......

    Idiot.
  • Didn't get anything from my mortgage provider, then again considering I'm on an extremely generous mortgage product I shouldn't complain.

The seller has left me a wonderful gift of a front and back garden that have obviously not been touched since February when the house was put on the market. I've had notification from Royal Mail that a redirect is in place but a couple of bits of mail were obviously in the system before that took hold, they'll be getting returned to sender instead of being forwarded on.

Nothing so far with the house I've just moved into.

In 2006 when I bought my last house I got a set a screw drivers which I've still got. I think I may have had some milk, toilet rolls etc.
  • Spoke too soon, got a package with tea, coffee, shortbread and popcorn.

When we moved into our house we got nothing. In fact when I went to pick up the keys from the estate agents, I was well excited and had gone down there with all the ID I could carry to prove that I was the rightful owner of our new house and I should be handed the keys. When I got there the girl just pulled out a key from the draw and whizzed it across the desk at me: "'ere y'are luv" kind of thing, without bothering to ask who I was or anything. So I got the impression that they'd have just handed over the keys to anyone who rocked up and said our new address.

    Nothing from the mortgage company.

The sellers left us a nice note with details about the house, alarm code, bin collection days etc. They also left us a couple of loo rolls and a bottle of wine - essential stuff.
  • I got the Nationwide box recently, was a nice surprise. The EA I bought through gave me a nice bottle of red wine, which was also a nice surprise.

Along with my box from Barratts, yesterday I received a similar box from Newcastle Building Society. It had similar stuff in it to the Barratt box except it had a cafetiere and one of the mugs was smashed!

Also worryingly, they sent it to number 7, not my door number, 76. Thankfully the guy at number 7 brought it up to me. Not sure how he knew to bring it to me other than guessing as I was the last house before the building site, it was mine!
