Well that turned out to be a pretty spectacular storm...and impossible to sleep through (especially if like me you have no window coverings in the bedroom!). No lay in though to compensate for the lack of sleep as I had to be up and clear headed to ring the doctors surgery first thing.
We had several buildings hit, none of our traffic lights are working and things are generally a mess this morning in the village and the main town. In Ipswich, no-one can buy train tickets as their system is down!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

By the way, if anyone finds they keep getting logged out, it seems to be a general problem affecting all devices and several browsers.
Despite ticking the 'Keep me logged in' box, I mean.
A report thread for it has been opened on the Site Feedback board.
It seems to have started yesterday, but I was ok until this morning, and it's happened to me three times so far.(I just lurve spiders!)

Quite spectacular here. Impossible to sleep through.
You lot just aren't trying hard enough. Small cough from the kids and I wake up to check, thunder and heavy rain and I sleep better
Although I did wake up once because my back was very sore. Must be the damp seeping into me old bones....I think....0 -
I hope it's feeling better this morning michaels.
It was a bit loud here overnight but although it rained it doesn't look as if it's been torrential. But apparently in Tunbridge Wells, fire crews were called out 60 times in 60 minutes at one point.
Pastures that sounds like a very scary night for you! Hope you're okay this morning.0 -
Did anybody see the woman on the BBC1 news at Coverack this morning?
The reporter had been showing viewers the debris that'd washed down the hill, including a mobility scooter and a kitchen sink .... she'd been at home watching and recognised her stuff, so turned up and was interviewed.
She was very laid back about it all; said the scooter was her elderly (90s) mother's ... the shed was on the beach and it was her junk/kitchen sink. The reporter offered to give her a hand carrying it all home (jokingly) and she said "No, you can keep it" and walked off
Here it is: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-40653375/coverack-village-floods-carried-off-my-kitchen-sink0 -

From a packing perspective it was woefully inadequate, but I wasn't packing to leave...I was packing thinking "don't be daft, but just in case".
It's not daft. I bet the poor Grenfell Tower people had wished they'd done something similar.
Anyway, I've got a 'hospital bag', for in case I'm rushed into hospital for anything, or taken ill/have an accident while out. As I live on my own, there isn't anyone to gather stuff up for me, and trying to explain where stuff might be to a neighbour or friend, given the state of my house, would be a nightmare.
It's only a small spare hold-all with a nightie, toothbrush etc, bath slippers, paper and pens, money, spare medication, hand cream, change of undies, crossword puzzles, and other small bit and bobs.
There's a label on it saying 'hospital' to prevent ambiguity!(I just lurve spiders!)

Indeed - better alter those extension plans to include an orangery :rotfl:
What happened in the end was it was all too long-winded, so, once I was presented with the 3rd set of plans - and with 2 week delays between each presentation, I just signed and said "do it" because I figured ..... it could go on forever at that rate. I was presented with a lantern window in the roof, but I binned that as I said "seagulls will sit/!!!!!! on that and I'll end up with a perpetual problem of staring up at the 4rse end of birds" as it'd give them a nook out of the wind...they might even build a nest there.
I've not put in for what I imagined or envisaged ... but it fulfils the primary purposes.... so I left it at that.
I think those with larger budgets/aspirations have the financial clout to demand more and more of architects, but for a simple single storey add on bit with a loo there comes a time when you just have to say "that'll do"
There's no orangery - and, to be honest, I don't actually know what one is.... so I won't miss it.
I've got "Extra space, to throw crap into .... and a bog".
It's been 3 weeks now since I said "do it", so I logged on earlier to view it online/download a plan for myself as I've absolutely no idea what I asked for....but it's not there, so I phoned the architect. It appears that submitting it is one thing .... then the Council have to do something that also "submits" it to their online portal/list... which I didn't know about and it's in there somewhere... and I'm guessing the "2 months" for PP doesn't even start until it's on their site.
*sighs* ... more stupid hoops than you can imagine....
If I get it I'll get: a "sense of arrival" for visitors who wish to bang on the door; a bit of an area I can sit in the sun indoors; a loo/shower; a back door to the garden/utility room with a sink/washing machine in it - it can be what people wish it to be. It'll also increase general security and cut down on wind (it's a VERY blowy area).0
