The rain hammered down again at some point ...

I've just stepped outside and everything lit up - in the distance there was a huge lightening flash that was more like a huge fire as it was really yellow/flame coloured and it had a huge base width, just like you'd imagine a fierce fire would look like from 1-2 miles.

It's simply perpetually flashing out there, probably all about 5-10 miles from me, but in all directions.

There's "nothing happening" right here, right now .... thank goodness. Always been petrified of lightning.

    EDIT 12:01: Oooh it's getting louder/closer again.

    EDIT 12:02: Uh-ho ... rain again....

Mostly missed us in NE Surrey/SW London. Always amazed by how you rarely get drizzle in the summer or similar situations where you're unsure if it's raining or not. It's either raining stair-rods or not at all.

    Then it all kicked off!

The flashes were getting bigger/brighter and multiple flashes were occurring simultaneously, so I went to look out of upstairs windows... went to the back first, then the front... standing there and there was an almighty great flash and then it all went super dark.

"Oh ...did the street lights just go out?" I wondered ... and decided to look out the back to see if neighbours' lights were on .... stupid move, should've just turned the light on in the room I was in as I walked into the back bedroom and SMACK right in the shin, on the edge of the bed... :(

I'd definitely lost electricity though - and so had everybody else. It was only off for 5 minutes or so.

Storm's still wild out there and it's peeing down again/still.

The storm's still here, flashing and banging. It's stopped raining for a bit though. I've never known lightning/thunder storms to go on for so long, it's nearly 8 hours now!

The streetlamp on the main road is still on; that usually goes off at midnight in winter and 1am when the clocks go forward, so now I don't know if the power going off affected it, or if it's a new thing now there are more houses down here and it won't go off, or if it'll go off in 10 minutes.
  • Someone else up at this time Pastures?:) In my case - it's down to not feeling too well...

Can't resist commenting that I'm getting the better weather (for once!) in this part of the country. Been a hot/dry day yesterday and I was gardening. Now it's quiet/dry/decent temperature outside.

Mind you - thinks we deserve a bit of decent weather here in West Wales - after how frequent gales/rain/etc are here...:rotfl:

Storm has finally reached us, bright flashes started about half an hour ago and it is a constant crashing, banging and flashing now with copious amounts of rain.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Looks as if they have passed us by this time.

Storm hit us between about 2 and 3 am. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have cooled the place down.

Quite spectacular here. Impossible to sleep through.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Yes, it's still just as humid. No breeze at all.
