I have a beard - it's fantastic in this cold weather0
-
All 3 boys have beards although James and Joe shave them off regularly.....it always makes Joe look like a 12 year old again when he does that and no-one will believe him when he says he is almost 20.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I have snow. Not a lot but it's definitely laid a bit and is gently snowing a little bit.0

Yes. Snow.
I am more scared of the ice.
I have already cancelled an appointment this morning as I don't want to drive. I know it's not very deep, etc, but am too scared of skidding, after a previous experience. Side roads, rather than main roads.
I have another appointment this afternoon. I could walk to it, but it will depend how slippery it is. Am really scared of slipping and beggaring up or breaking something, and having had all these leg/foot problems, I really don't want any more.
I do have some shoe grippers, and some spiky Nordic sticks, so I'll see what it's like later.
I feel like a bit of a wimp, given that there's not much of it out there, but the musculoskeletal-skeletal problems I've had over the last two years have stopped me doing so much, and I'm only just starting to come out of them.
Oh dear.(I just lurve spiders!)

Bin day and I'm one of the first on the route, they typically arrive 7.30 to 7.45. They've just been.0

We don't just have snow but snow drifts! Route out of the village is blocked by a massive one, A14 keeps getting blocked by them, the High Road (the other way through going out the other side) has several of them.
Our issue is not so much the amount of snow falling but the strong winds and open fields bordering the roads. As soon as they clear the road, more snow blows off the fields and blocks it again, everyone in the village and the adjoining town are doing the "Is it open or closed" thing right now for the A14 as they try to time leaving in the small window when it has just been cleared and before it has time to blow off the fields and block it again.
It's still snowing and blowing a gale out there. We made it! Got some good news from Joe last night.
The one who struggled with his GCSE in it, got a mid 2.1 for his Maths for computing module.
He is so relieved, this is the one module he was getting in a panic about because of what happened at GCSE, his revision was being upset by noisy flatmates and he just didn't have any confidence in himself. We made it! Morning all. Pyxis, I think you're right to be cautious. DH slipped last night and his back is now painful.Spend less now, work less later.0

Someone just posted up a photo of the state of the road and paths outside my house on Facebook (they were posting moaning because the local high school has decided to open), safe to say that getting to my car parked outside is pretty impossible right now due to the ice and even if I did, getting the car safely down the road to the main road would not be the easiest or safest thing to try to do.We made it! Snow here too, but not very hard. I'm not at work today anyway, although for once in a while I've had to bring work home with me on my Thursday off. (Since I only get Thursday off every other week, it is not so sacrosanct a "don't even think about work" day as Monday, which I get off every week.) Must get going and do some marking and report writing.I feel like a bit of a wimp, given that there's not much of it out there, but the musculoskeletal-skeletal problems I've had over the last two years have stopped me doing so much, and I'm only just starting to come out of them.
Don't worry about being a wimp. It would be wimpy to take that attitude if you were a fit and healthy 25-year-old who'd never had a muscular-skeletal problem in her life and would be letting down loads of people if she failed to turn up for work. In your position, cancelling an appointment or two makes sense.Got some good news from Joe last night.

Go Joe! :TDo you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0
