House is chilly despite heating being on twice a day while we've been away (since 3 Nov) but the upside is there don't seem to be moths around.

When we were away we set house to frost setting. We watched the temperature drop to around 11 degrees. Before we boarded our flight home we set the heating to come on 6 hours before we were due home. When we arrived home the house was a reasonable 19 degrees. Before we had hive, we would have kept the heating on to avoid coming back to a freezing house.

Ivyleaf, sorry to hear your news.

LydiaJ, it's lovely that you can give back to the community in this way. Making something good come out of your bad experience.

We had lunch out with the boys and DS2-GF.

DS1 has generally not been that good at looking after his clothes, they may be washed but they always seem to look tired. The last 2/3 times we've seen him they look as good as new. I commented today and he revealed that there are now laundry apps. So the house as a group sends off their washing and it comes back perfectly pressed/ cleaned/ ironed. He reckons that with bulk discount and loyalty codes etc it is fairly reasonable.

That's getting more common everywhere. We visited Portsmouth Uni and the halls are way better organised than in my student days back in the 70s. Students back then were rubbish at laundry. Most just dressed as if they'd covered themselves with sticky glue and jumped through their wardrobes.

Lydiaj may I put a link to your post on another thread where a poster I know has just lost a brother?

Yes of course. Anyone is more than welcome to link to it from anywhere. If you want to recommend At a Loss outside of MSE, you can cut and paste the text of my post since non-members can't see the Debate board.

NP who are interested in what exactly I've been asked to do for At a Loss may be interested to take a look Elsewhere.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

So sorry for your loss Ivyleaf.

I was very busy today...resting. Had work yesterday afternoon so it was a day in bed to recover from it, I'll be doing the same tomorrow to recover more and to get some energy for work on Tuesday morning.

Joe's flat in halls seem very responsible, not at all like the other two boys first year at uni. They all clean, they don't party (apart from one lad who is met with disapproval by the others), take post in for others and don't mess with it, do lots of study and look out for each other. Suits Joe down to the ground as life is quiet and he can feel comfortable.

They are more likely to be sat there with cups of tea or coffee discussing world events than to have alcohol and music.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Funnily enough I did have one small regret, but it was that I didn't take up on a BF offer!

I'd been after some particular pans for a while, but took no notice of the BF hype, and ordered them on Thursday, as they were advertising 30% off there and then, in advance of BF.

I happened to notice on the Friday, that one of the pans had been reduced again! :( by £12. :(

    Oh well.

By the way, is it a coincidence that BF stands for Black Friday and Bloody Fool? :rotfl:

You click on the 'APPEAR' button, (password SESAME), and out pops a muscly bearded guy in gold lamè and a turban who says " Your wish, oh master/mistress?" And then he does your laundry.
