Oh sorry! I meant to comment on your quote on my previous post, and then got carried away with the c/card stuff and forgot!

And now I'e forgotten what I was going to say about your quote! :rotfl:

Oh yes, it was probably something along those lines. I remember when I was a student, I could barely afford to go to the launderette to do my washing. :( so either the laundry app bulk-buy idea works out really cheap, or else they don't spend money on beer! :D:D

I'd still rather have a Synth, though. You can talk to a Synth, even if all its conversation is about laundry! :D

Not only that, but it would cheerfully prepare meals even if everyone in the household wanted something different. Bliss.

thanks to sc and viva for the other info re the laundry app :)

So sorry you're having all this hassle, silvercar :(

Maggie, are you on the mend? I do hope so xx

The missing link. I have just googled mother-in-law's name. She has very little online presence, no social media. There is one newspaper article that comes up in the first few searches. It is the obituary to her sister that mentions her sister (ie MIL) and then talks of the sister as the daughter of x and y. Giving away the maiden name.

This justifies my usage of an alias if I want to register with an online public thing.
The only time I put my real name now, is for buying stuff, not just because of th c/card, because that could be another name anyway (someone buying it for you etc.) but because of the time when I missed the delivery, which was Royal Mail, and couldn't go and collect it from the Post Office, because obviously, I didn't have ID in the alias name! So I had to arrange redlivery, which was inconvenient.

Oh, I don't need to rub the phone, then? :D

Nah, clicking a button has superseded rubbing!
    Rubbing takes effort! :D

Had a bit of a coughy night, but OK in daytime. Day of rest today as tomorrow is Collect New Car Day. :j At least it will be if I can find one more piece of evidence as to who I am. So far they've had Blue Badge and letter from DWP about PIP, I hadn't realised I needed 3 items.

No current driving licence (only driver for car is OH) and no passport. Don't want to hand over bank statement. OH pays power bills and council tax, my name not on them. I pay Broadband, telephone and TV from Virgin, but it's all paperless billing! (rolls eyes)

How are you doing dear Ivyleaf? Have been sending thoughts/vibes in your direction today. Do you have to be involved in funeral organisation etc? Or is there someone else doing all that? I remember when my parents died it was all such a drawn out business with so many meetings - exhausting and upsetting too.

    Hugs from Liverpool xxx

The only thing Joe spends money on is food and the occasional coffee. He has at most one very cheap takeaway a week (chips with beans), the rest of the time it is home made sandwiches, pot noodles and the like...his current total spend per week is less than £20.

He takes frugal to another level as he classes that as really living it up and spending money!

He was very sensible though before he went, all his earnings from his job (on the seafront with James), went into his savings account ready for university, so he already had a nice cushion of money to go there with. He also refused the student account overdraft that is offered/given as standard (he insisted the bank clerk make a note about not applying the automatic overdraft).

Now if only he could rub some of that off on Josh!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Maggie I would have thought your letter and blue Badge would have been adequate ID - surely your Blue Badge has a photo of you on it? Have you perhaps got a bus pass with your photo on it?

I'm doing ok, thanks. My brother wanted "direct cremation" (i.e. no funeral service, the body is cremated then the funeral director contacts the NOK to tell them it's been done). He was living in Germany so we are going there next week to see my sister-in-law, then in the Spring she will come over, and his ashes will be scattered near those of other family members, and we'll raise a glass to him afterwards :) He wasn't religious at all, but I'm Catholic so will have a Mass for him.

Sue What a lovely, sensible young man :)

Maggie, have you got a tax return with your details on it? Or anything else from HMRC?

    Or NI card?

No bus pass as couldn't make it to the bus stop. Would be knackered by the wheelchair over rough pavements (roads and pavements in Liverpool are not repaired as they should be these days) by time reached stop. Buses are reputedly disabled friendly, must test them out maybe on a sunny day in summer. But it wouldn't be worth me getting a bus pass - OH has one though as he goes clubbing in town sometimes.

Last letter I had from HMRC was too long ago for proof of identity! I don't pay any tax as only have state pension (and not even the full amount of that) plus a couple of very small dividends - have 2 share holdings that on a good year bring in maybe £100 between them. They came from my parents, who between them had quite a lot of shares and bonds. Nearly all got cashed in to pay for the renovation and extension on our house, just got the 2 holdings left.

However, Mum had a Government Bond (unbelievably at 8 and 3/4%!!! How things have changed!) that matured this year - obviously I've paid the cheque (tear off bottom of letter) but I guess a letter from HM Treasury should count for something! Mum would have been 100 in October, so my guess is that she put that aside for that birthday "just in case".

Think the only NI card I have is in my maiden name! :rotfl:

As back up I'm taking my letter from John Lewis with offer of free cake and coffee in January. ;)

Have you got a letter from the Pension office?

I've just got my Winter Fuel Allowance letter, so if you have that, it might do?

My son needed a letter from HMRC as part of his security clearance when he applied for a job. So, he wrote them a letter with some nonsense question, and they duly replied.

It's a job as an intern in the Scottish civil service, yet they felt the need to do a full vetting. Somebody is a bit paranoid, or there's more to the job than he's letting on.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
