Not withstanding the serious research our fraudster did to crack the security questions, OH comment to me last night:
OH: have you checked your computer?
Me: yes, full virus check - all clean.
OH: my work computer had a few trojans, but they don't matter do they?

I've only got an iPad. I don't think I've ever done a virus check as such. How do I do one?
These people explain why you don't need any antivirus software on an ipad. https://www.tomsguide.com/us/iphones-dont-need-antivirus-software,news-23111.html
There are no viruses on Apple!
Apart from the huge open door on the root account in MacOS, of course.
This answers your question, sort of. Essentially, it comes down to wiping it and starting again with a clean install.

Thanks!
Tha's why I haven't done one, then!
I do still occasionally get those highly annoying pop-up things when you click on certain sites, that you can't get rid of easily, and they want you to click on 'close' because that actually means 'enter' in their nasty little world! They are usually draws that you can 'win' a new iPad in.(I just lurve spiders!)

That's interesting. I've not heard of a direct cremation before.
A sad little trip you'll make next week.
Especially just as all the bright and glittery Christmas stuff gets going.
Have another huglet....

Aww, thank you. I'm a bit worried about staying with my sister-in-law - we don't know her that well, although we like her, and we suggested we should stay in a hotel instead and just visit her as and when she feels up to having visitors; but she said "No, no, if you're coming over then you stay here!" Which is lovely of her, but I know she often says yes to things, to be polite, when she really wants to say no! Hopefully it will be okay. We're hiring a car, so we can always go out when she needs to be on her own. Heavy snow showers are forecast there for next week, so at least we can help her with clearing it off the pavement.
silvercar
Maggie I'm so pleased you have your new car. Wishing you many happy journeys in it, especially given all the hassle you had to go through to get the PIP xx0 -

I suppose that having you as guests might give her a focus, and keep her busy; that might be what she wants.
It would be when you leave that it hits.(I just lurve spiders!)

I'm not sure why people opt for direct cremation. It should be something for the surviving relatives to decide, not the deceased. It can be cathartic for the surviving relatives to have a full funeral, even if the deceased didn't want to be a burden.
I said to my wife that she should do what she wants. If i don't like it, I'll knock on the coffin lid.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Well, yes and no, it depends.
However, I do feel very strongly that the deceased's wishes should be paramount. It's their body, after all.
I'm not having a cremation, but I suppose I'm having what you could call a 'direct burial' in that I don't really want anyone there.
I can't really go into the reasons on here as it's very personal and might identify me, but if anyone's interested, I could talk a bit more elsewhere.(I just lurve spiders!)

Isn't it funny that we have such different ideas! I think the funeral is for the benefit of the survivors, as the deceased isn't there in any meaningful sense. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
