He likes to go on holiday to somewhat extreme places. Egypt, Iraq, Ukraine, etc. Special Branch interviewed his flatmates to check whether he has extremist sympathies or is just a complete idiot. His flatmates reassured them that he's just a complete idiot. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Hahahahahahahahhaa!
However, I wouldn't have said Ukraine was an extreme place. I know people there!
(Ok, maybe the Crimea bit is a bit of a no-go area, but not the rest!
)
Mind you, talking of being just an idiot, well, hiding in plain sight springs to mind........
Remember the Scarlet Pimpernel? :rotfl:
Ooh! Maybe they've had to check out his family as well! so watch out for men in fedoras and belted macs with upturned collars lurking at street corners.
And balalaika music playing through the gloom.(I just lurve spiders!)

Have you got a letter from the Pension office?
I've just got my Winter Fuel Allowance letter, so if you have that, it might do?
Mine arrived yesterday, so I did take it... But it's another one from DWP, so I thought they might not accept it (one of the original ones was the letter from DWP confirming my PIP levels and payments).
The letter from The Treasury went down well though! :rotfl: As the Motability specialist said "Lets go for the top!"
We drove out to Pickerings Pasture straight from the VW saleroom. It's where my final trip in my last Motability car was to, so it seemed a good place to christen new car. OH is desperately reading the manual now - we got the radio working, and the heated seats, but there's a lot more to work out! Including we got a dash cam fitted so we'll have to read up on that too!
So far so good - OH likes the drive, and I'm finding it comfortable. Not tried changing the lumbar support on my seat yet, that may make it even more comfortable.
Plus we'll have to test out the back massage too! :rotfl:

I'm doing ok, thanks. My brother wanted "direct cremation" (i.e. no funeral service, the body is cremated then the funeral director contacts the NOK to tell them it's been done). He was living in Germany so we are going there next week to see my sister-in-law, then in the Spring she will come over, and his ashes will be scattered near those of other family members, and we'll raise a glass to him afterwards
He wasn't religious at all, but I'm Catholic so will have a Mass for him.
That's interesting. I've not heard of a direct cremation before.
A sad little trip you'll make next week.

Especially just as all the bright and glittery Christmas stuff gets going.

Have another huglet....

My son needed a letter from HMRC as part of his security clearance when he applied for a job. So, he wrote them a letter with some nonsense question, and they duly replied.
It's a job as an intern in the Scottish civil service, yet they felt the need to do a full vetting. Somebody is a bit paranoid, or there's more to the job than he's letting on.
That's standard. Even if you're not going to be working on anything sensitive, if you're going to be working in the same building as people who are, then they want to make sure you're not actually a spy, and won't be listening out for careless words in corridors etc. I got vetted for a gap year placement with UKAEA back in 1986, followed by signing the official secrets thingy. I spent the whole of the first three or four months dutifully not mentioning anything about my job to anybody, and then felt a bit confused when I got sent to a scientific conference to present a poster about the work my boss and I had been doing!!Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Yay, tax return done and accounts sent to accountant. That's me done for another year. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Weird, I have worked for police, prisons, home office, airside access at heathrow etc etc and mostly just been basic enhanced cleared and once sc but never dv - dv is expensive and takes a while so afaik they avoid it if possible. That's standard.
