Now I have to wait one to two days for a code by text or letter to reactive my account why? Ulster Bank can immediately send me a text to thank me for 're-registering' but pause to send the code, eh?
All the other banks and financial institutions I have ever dealt with can so why not them - is this the curse of RBS in Edinburgh. Pity Ulster Bank cannot divorce these zombies in South Gyle.0 -
Card finally arrived today, still awaiting PIN and reader, 6.5 weeks since application and counting!
.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Not wishing to tempt fate but so far so good - account opened yesterday, showing online today and first transfer credited immediately.
Just have to see how long the card, reader etc takes now but, due the delays others have experienced, I decided to just add £10.00 initially and once everything is properly up and running I'll transfer a bigger lump sum.0 -

Weird. Got my card and pin the same day after about 20 days and card reader on 7th august (ordered 15 July from memory)
Hopefully clearing that backlog of readers and your pin letter will turn up tomorrow0 -
I applied 3rd July, was in a position to deposit money on the 21st July (making sure it was not needed immediately) and got my card today 9th August. I already have a couple of readers.
I assume the card pin (which they say is 3 to 5 working days away) is different to the login pin?0 -
I opened my e-savings account last month and just received my card. Still waiting for the card reader and PIN number to come through.
For those who haven't received the card reader etc, you can make payments via the mobile app but I still think the card reader method of setting up new payees is ridiculous.
Most banks do this by codes via text message.0 -
Who on earth still uses these stupid dongle things? Clearly Ulster do so I have ordered the dongle. I will try an HSBC app security code as advised in these parts.
HSBC do seem on top of online banking with excellent apps on both iOS and Android. No more dongles with them! Interest rates are .... Well you know...
Edited. I logged in via the web browser but cannot test other app security until the dongle has been issued. We shall see but they do say that pending arrival to phone for help.
There's no dongle for Ulster bank. It's a card reader, similar to the one used by Natwest, RBS, Nationwide and Barclays. In fact, your Ulster card, once you get it, will work in all of them.
I don't know why you think an HSBC security code would work at Ulster Bank. It won't.0
