So as I understand it, there's no problem unlocking the phone via the correct calculated unlock code. However, if you then put in a 2G sim with a provider that also transmits 3G and the phone picks up this 3G signal, then the phone will not work. When it no longer picks up a 3G signal, it works fine. The only way to sort this glitch out would be to get a hard reset of the phone. Is this more or less correct?
Cheers

So thats why this phone works perfectly on my Virgin sim card.
Ok Chappies-What ALL This Means-There are no problems if you are using this phone unlocked on a network that has only 2g (like Virgin, possibly also one2one)0 -

There are concerns that CPW may already be out of stock and a lot of their web customers are still waiting for final confirmation of their order.
If you ordered the first of your handsets via this channel I would suggest hedging your bets and ordering the second in person in a local store (if there are any left) or via E2Save - that way you may increase your chance of getting at least one of your orders.
In a way, I would say the same applies for anyone who is concerned about the status of their existing CPW order - repeat the order with E2Save and if you are lucky enough to get 2 orders fulfilled, just return the CPW order to your local store.

RMFor anyone wishing to contact me privately to ask me a question, can I ask that you email me directly as my PM box is often full.0 -
Anyone know if they still available in central london?
Thinking of going there tomorrow because my local store sold out already0 -
Best way to find out is to ring CPWs 0800 number and ask them which stores have it in your area. They will tell you the exact number available in each store! Then rush off to that store , instead of wandering around all the stores in the area.0

Question for the master of mobiles himself.... (or anybody else who can answer this for me).
1. I am currently on 3 on a contract which I no longer want to be but want to get this phone, can I keep my number go to PAYG and use this phone?
2. mutty_hc asked how to get it 'flashed', what does that mean and can it be done?
3. Can we get the 'hardware reset' done online? or get instructions on how to do it yourself?
Spikey
1. you will have to pay the remain of your contract if you want to keep your number
2. 'flashed' simply means putting new software on the phone, i.e non 3 software as this is a 3 phone everything is setup for 3 i.e. internet settings etc. You need speical equipment to do this, better to ask a local phone shop (will be cheaper
3. No you need special equipment, although to do what your looking to do the phone does not have to be flashed, but as said you still need the neccessary equipment0
