    Hi All
I've been with Barclays a while but not used my Platinum card (with a zero balance) for at least 14 months but kept it because i liked the look of it.

I just called them to see what they would offer me and they offered me the 6.9% until 2012 or until balance is cleared, practically insisting i take it now and not allow me to think about it.

Obviously i'm not silly so i told them i'll think about it and go ahead if, and when i want to.

    Thanks Colloq.

My letter arrived at the weekend and phoned Barclaycard with my code and now have 6.9% for life of balance.

    Well done Barclaycard!
  • 0% on balance transfer for existing customers.
I'd already transferred one balance to my barclaycard at 6.9% a few months ago. When another card was coming to the end of its deal I applied to Abbey National for their 0% and got turned down (aaarghhh!). So last week, resigned to paying 6.9% I phoned barclaycard (as the website was unavailable). They offered me a 0% deal! Think the guy said 15 months, was so in shock I didn't check! Will wait for the paperwork. Give them a ring and see what they'll offer you.

I've recently paid off my Barclaycard balance in full.

Called them today, asked for the 6.9% life of balance transfer deal to shift a balance from another card in an attempt to save some money but was told there are no deals available on my account at the present time :embarasse
  • Hi There,

I have a balance of 2194 on my B/Card, a balance of 2120 on my Halifax (all of which is on varied life transfers between 6.9 and 8.9) and an egg at 1559 which is on 17.9%.

Barclays have offered me the 6.9% life deal, however, I'm weary to transfer the egg over without clearing the current barclays balance, which, at the moment, I cannot do without shifting the balances over to the other cards . The only issue is that I have no credit remaining on the other cards, except for the Barclays which has a limit of 4400. What would you reccommend I do? Transfer the balance from the Egg to the Barclays anyway and take advantage of the deal, bearing in mind that the 2194 that remains on this card is still accruing interest at a phenomenally high rate of 24.9%? I don't think I'd be eligible for another card, hence I'm finding myself in this rather strange predicament.. Halifax are offering me a 8.9% for the life balance, however, I have insufficient credit on the account to take advantage of the offer..

Any advice as to what I can do to get rid of the B/Card balance or shuffle it all around to make it at 6.9%

    Thanks

    Hi MSE'ers
Please can you advise me what the best option is with my ccards. I have read the Shuffle article and think I understand what Martin's saying but am still a bit confused.

    My ccards are as follows:
Barclaycard: Bal of £2155.67, Limit of £2450, 14.9%
RBS: Bal of £2993.84, Limit of £4500, 15.76%
Virgin: Bal of £199.49, Limit of £2500, 26.48%

    Any advice appreciated

  • If it were me, I'd transfer as much as possible from the Barclaycard to the Virgin card and the remainder to the RBS card (or pay it off). Then move as much as possible (you'll be able to shift £2205) back from the Virgin card to Barclaycard if they offer the 6.9% deal (phone and check first). Make sure the Virgin card is clear (either shift whatevers left to RBS or pay it off) and then ring Virgin and see what deals they'll offer you. Finally move the RBS balance over to the Virgin card. Voila! Should the Virgin deal be on a limited time offer you can then ring up RBS later and see what they offer you to shift it back.

This is just a quick idea and with a bit more planning you might be able to save a bit on the fees but it should point you in the right direction.

Thank you for your advice binaryuniverse...
Just rang Barclaycard and they don't have any offers for me even though I've had my account for over two years and always paid on time

I then rang Virgin to find out what offers they have and they said to me I can do a balance transfer at a rate of a whopping 29.9%...again have had the account for over two years and never missed a payment.

Both companies did however say that I should ring back during the week and speak to customer services who might be able to offer me better deals

    Ok so here's the situation....

Virgin: They have no offers on my account despite me speaking to customer services/retention over the last month. They can only offer me a BT at 29.9%

Barclays: Because I am near my credit limit they cannot give me any offers and suggest I clear the account ie do a BT and call back to see what offers they have but nothign is guaranteed.

RBS: Just spoke to them and found out that they have reduced my credit limit from £4500 to £3230 because of some or other big review!! I tried to get it reinstated but it seems virtually impossible.

Should I just take a chance and transfer barclays to virgin and then ring barclays once it's been cleared to see what deal they can offer me?
Oh this is all so confusing any advice welcome
