Barclaycard Existing Customers Loophole Discussion

This deal is not available for existing customers. I have just called them and they told I can't apply. I don't know how this info was put on this website which is normally very accurate and trustworthy? pity.

I currently have a balance of around £1500 with TSB credit card. I wanted to take advantage of the Barclaycard offer of 6.9% on life balances. Unfortunately I am not working at the moment. My question is... Could my husband apply for the Barclaycard and then transfer the balance from my Tsb credit card account to it. Does the account you are moving have to be in the same name as the new account????

I applied for the 6.9% online and heard nothing for 2 weeks. I contacted customer services by phone and was told that I had been refused the transfer as no deals were available (even though it was on the website). After a couple of emails to them it turned out that it was available to some people, but not me!!. A week later they offered me 0% for 12 months?

I currently have the barclaycard platinum card with a balance of £2k on it at the moment on a 0% balance transfer till April 2009.

If I ask will Barclaycard revert to 6.9% for the life of the balance when the 0% deal is up? Or is this only for Balance transfers to the account?

These promotional rates are normally offered as a sweetener to attract new business. It's not often that Barclaycard applies a fixed-rate deal to existing transactions. There's no harm in asking of course, but be prepared to ditch & switch when your current deal ends.;)

Hi,

I've followed all the steps in the loophole article, clearing my balance etc, and have just this morning got my statement with a nil balance.

I called Barclaycard this morning to ask them about a balance transfer, and I was told there are no offers (including 6.9% lifetime balance deal) this week, and to call back next week instead.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas?

I called Barclaycard this morning and was offered 6.9% for life but he could not give the rate immediately, he had to send me a letter with a unique reference number, once I receive it I can then call back and take advantage of the rate!

Who knows what will happen - I will ring again tomorrow and see what story I get!

Frugaldave, same happened when i went to do a transfer. Letter arrived within the week, called back up, and transfer was done within a week. All went smoothly for me :beer:

something weird is happening.

the online transfer part of the site is "under construction"? and when I phoned up there were no offers for me but "as I'd not used it for a while maybe it was taken off?"...

not essential that I do the transfer but get the feeling that the loophole is closing or being shifted again....
