If you didn't click the link in the e-mail then your account should be safe, but go ahead and change it if you are still worried.southwestmaid wrote:Do you think I should go into my paypal account and change my password?0 -
Thanks, I've not clicked on the link.0

Just had a reply from PayPal.-
Thank you for contacting PayPal. We appreciate you bringing this
suspicious email to our attention.
Commonly referred to as phishing, these emails are sent by fraudsters in an attempt to collect sensitive personal or financial information from
the recipients. PayPal takes phishing threats seriously. Our fraud
prevention specialists are working 24/7 to help protect you and enable
the community to stay safe.
After review, we can confirm that the email you received was not sent by PayPal. Any website which may be linked to this email is not authorized

I received an email yesterday which was different from the usual obvious scams. It looked really authentic in terms of the graphic quality etc, the only thing missing was an item no. the email was titled "Question from ebay member"
It read as follows:
Question from jell
I have not received any item from you, what happend, I've sent you the money, now were is my item ? If you don't Respond Now I will contact ebay and I will report you, I will also go to the police !Lett me know, I am not a fool !
Thank you !
It's amusing written I suppose but this is the first spoof email I nearly fell for. Ebay have confirmed it's a hoax.0 -
Hi guys
Had a nice little scamming gits attempt to fleece me sitting in my mail box this morning, but it is a scam I have not seen before so wanted to warn you as it did look quite genuine with all the graphics attached, if you click the 'respond now' button obviously it will ask for you to sign in and get your password, plus I checked and 'denisbroken' is no longer a registered user, and has no feedback:
"Question from eBay Member -- Respond Now
eBay sent this message on behalf of an eBay member via My Messages. Responses sent using email will not reach the eBay member. Use the Respond Now button below to respond to this message.
Question from denisbroken
Hello ,
i want to buy your ithem ,
tell me your las price !
Thanks !
Respond to this question in My Messages.
denisbroken
Thank you for using eBay! "0 -
I have moved this post to this sticky thread as I think it is useful to keep these spoof messages in the same place so we can all be aware how they mutate over time.
This is still a classic phish though as it has the direct link to log in.

I just got one which advertises ebayautumn.com and sends you to a login forum. Don't login!
Ebayautumn has nothing to do with ebay and is registered by someone else. Oh and if it was ebay, it would be ebayfall.com!0 -
Hi, I get a lot of spoof emails supposedly from Ebay, but this is a new one on me. If you receive one of these, contact the seller directly through Ebay and check out if it is genuine:
Second Chance Offer -- Buy The Item You Recently Bid On
Good news! The following eBay item on which you placed a bid is still available for purchase:
Stylish Art Deco Hagenauer Greyhound figure.
Item number: 7357307785
Your Price : GBP 755.00
Don't let this get away!
Second Chance Offer
The seller, is making this Second Chance Offer because the high bidder was either unable to complete the transaction or the seller has a duplicate item for sale.
The selling of this item through Second Chance Offer is in compliance with eBay policy and you will be able to exchange Feedback with the seller and will be eligible for all eBay services associated with a transaction, such as fraud protection.
eBay does not charge an Insertion Fee to send a Second Chance Offer. Sellers pay only the Final Value Fee when the offer is accepted.
Act Now - This Offer Expires Soon
To take advantage of this opportunity, please act quickly.
To contact the seller just reply to this email message.
Be sure you are on an eBay page
Before signing in, check the Web address in your browser. If you click on a link in an email, verify that the web address in your browser is the same as the address shown in the email. The Web address of most eBay sign-in pages begins with http://signin.ebay.com/. Never type your eBay user ID and password into a Web page that doesn't have ".ebay.com" immediately before the first forward slash (/).
Thank you for using eBay!
http://www.ebay.com/
It has the usual Ebay banners etc, but in this case the seller had made no second chance offers. I got a further email from this guy saying he wanted to procede through Ebay and would I confirm my name and address.
I have reported this to Ebay, but I guess I'll get the standard response.0 -
These are getting quite common now. I would like to see ebay move to a system where users are simply notified by email that they have a new message in "My Messages". No links, just a heads-up to log in to ebay and check.0
-
If you are unsure then don't check the item via the link, enter the item number onto your search and do it this way. I get loads of these, also now getting 'item disputes'. Just delete them - if it is anything urgent you will be notifed when logging into My eBay anyway - if unsure then delete!0
