Ebay and paypal spoof mails. Please read

I just had an email that i must admit looked very plausible, with all the logos etc from EBAY, advising me that i must urgently re-update my details otherwise my account would be suspended.
On clicking the link I was directed to the sign in page which then took me to a secure page requesting ALL my credit card details. It looks identical to web pages used by EBAY and cleverly brings up your sign in name etc. Obviously alarm bells start ringing - I found that any sign in name and password would take you to the secure page asking for the details.

I too very recently received this email. I signed in and as you say wanted my credit card details. It then dawned on me that I registered with Ebay from my work email address not the home one. I changed my password straight away - hope you did the same and forwarded the email to Ebay Security.SallyD0

What ever you do never give any details as they are all scams as ebay will never ask for any credit card details, I also come accross paypal spoof emails. If you get any suspiciosu emails just forward them to the relevant addresses below and they will tell you if the email is a fake
spoof@ebay.co.uk
spoof@paypal.com0 -
my friend fell for this email over the weekend, shes a newbie to ebay bless her, and it took me forever to sort this out. luckily ebay picked up on it really quickly and NARud her account, and refunded all the fees that the scammers had racked up.
The really other stupid thing she had done was have the same passowrd to her email address as her ebay account so they hacked her email account as well, and forwarded all the mail that she was receiving onto themselves!!!
I think she has learned her lesson after it took me till midnight to sort it all out for her. and have given her really complicated passwords now. She will never ever reply to any emai now she gets from ebay0 -
I have just received this email also, funny thing is they had my surname totally wrong!0

I have received alot of mail recently proporting to be from sellers sending messages. Usually along of the lines 'You have not paid for this item' often they are polite and not the obvious 'Will you ship to X country'. They are very indirect and rely on the receipent wishing to investigate what it's about clicking on the 'reply' link where they are taken to what is supposed to be the ebay login screen. I am very annoyed as I only use one email for use on the ebay system to try and avoid spoof and means someone I have had dealings with has sold on my email address.
Anyway, I now use the Windows 'remember these details' on the ebay system, if my username does not appear in the username box when I go to log in I get suspicious and double-check the URL.
I am an experienced ebayer and have almost been caught out a few times myself, if you believe you have been caught out change your password immediately.0 -
This is a basic phishing scam so I am moving this across to the sticky thread. Anything that asks you to click on a link is to be avoided, anything real via ebay will now feature in your messages when you log in using a secure connection.
