after the fright with Ebay (see earlier post) I went through MY browser to the PayPal site, but couldn't see anything amiss. I forwarded the email on to abuse@payPal and received a reply telling me that indeed it is spoof email.......... so please be very careful and NEVER reply to an email from Ebay or PayPal.When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0 -
Gatita,
Can you take out the links, please. The first one still redirects to the spoof site  .0 -
Masonic,
I have deleted the links, I posted the email I received to try and warn people, not to cause any problems, I now realise I should have deleted the links before posting.
May I just say I did not need to be told on the thread AND in a private message!
although I am sure your intentions were of the best. When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0 -
I realise that it was just an oversight, and normally when you copy and paste it isn't a problem. After I posted I realised you were offline and might not see my message for some time and I didn't want to report the post without giving you a chance to sort it out yourself.gatita wrote:Masonic,

I'm sorry if I've offended you in any way.

I'm moving this to the main sticky thread as it is the usual phishing mail that relies on users following a link in the body of the mail.

Received tonight, Paypal have confirmed it's a phishing email
The scammers are sending this template in an email.
Hope Paypal can trace the scammers & have them dealt with.0 -
Got a spoof e-mail today apparently from an e-bay member requesting why I hadn't paid for an item I had won from them. The item just happened to be something that I was looking at and I presumed my wife may have purchased it. The e-mail looked exactly like an e-mail from an e-bay member when they send you a question through the site, together with all the correct links (all individually hyperlinked) etc.
I clicked on the link to see the item concerned and was requested to log on. I put in my details only to be rejected. Smelling a rat I realised it must have been a spoof and quickly went into my e-bay account through the correct channels and changed my password.
I've since forwarded the e-mail to the e-bay spoof dept and it now seems that the site was shut down within an hour (well done e-bay? :T ).
Interestingly, e-bay pointed me towards their on-line help pages to detail what to do and I came across the link to their e-bay toolbar here (hope the link works!!)
Good thing is that the toolbar has a Account Guard feature on it which shows green when you are on an authentic e-bay site or Paypal site, and red with a warning box when you are on a spoof site. It seemed to work on the spoof site I was sent before it was deleted.0 -
I had this email today Luckily I have the ebay toolbar and it recognised it as not verified so I reported it.
This is the actual email very convincing if your not aware.
