I got a whole batch of spoofs this morning after not getting any for days. One of them told me that I may have 'borrowed' my account to someone else, hmm, I think not.

I have received an e-mail from someone 'advertising' a pyramid scheme. I transacted with this person last year.
It has been addressed to 16 people and CCed to another 16, including myself. I wonder whether these are other PayPal members that the sender has had dealings with.
It has come from a @Hotmail.com address, and I have confirmed that it was sent from Hotmail as the IP at the top of the header is 64.4.61.33.
Will PayPal be interested, or is this a matter to report to Hotmail?Hi all,
I thought you might be interested in this 'cash generation' opportunity I've
decided to give a go.
This e-mail is going round paypal and ebay users and it seems to be
working. Yes, it is a pyramid selling/multi-layer marketing process, but
with a downside risk of only £3.00 and large potential gains, it seems to
me to be worth a try!!
I figured if I make money it would be fantastic,
but if i dont its only £3 i've lost, and i've probably got more chance of
money on here than the lottery!!!!

Report the mail to paypal and to Hotmail, it is considered spam.

I've just had an email supposedly from paypal, it was a 'receipt for my payment' for a strapless pink salsa dress, if you knew me you'd:rotfl::rotfl: too. The email looked really authentic with all the paypal logos and colours etc.
I checked my paypal account and all seems OK so it would appear that the scam doesn't start till you click the DISPUTE TRANSACTION link (which I've removed) then I expect you'd be asked for all your details

I was selling a D500 mobile with lots of extras on a 7 day auction. I put it on for a £1 with a buy it now for £120. Within hours I got a confirmation email saying that someone had bought it on the buy it now.
I sent the emails to ebay via spoof, but heard nothing. This person sent an address of Australia, no feedback and only registered yesterday. There email address was a codehot.co.uk address. I then got a further email saying:Dear Seller,
I will like to purchase these Item Samsung D500 Mobile Unlocked & Free MA-660 USB for a friend oversea as a gift.He works with British America Tobacco there in West Africa Due to my workload, i might not be able to be checking my mails often. So i will be offering £250.I want the item posted via ROYAL MAIL INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR TO HER.hope the package will get to her in good condition ..What is the present condition of this item and does it comes in it's original box?.I will be paying you for the item via Postal Order, so get back to me with your full name and address where payment will be deliverd to.
MANY THANKS
I have been using ebay for several years now and feel quite competent and secure, but this one is a bit peculiar that it is a .co.uk address for someone who lives in Aussie and they want it sending to West Africa...

I keep getting emails in my Junk Mail account claiming to be from Paypal.
They're either "new email address added", "confirm credit/debit card" or "someone from other country accessing your account".
I know that the first 2 instances are fake.......
I think the 3rd one is genuine as my work internet is actually routed through the US, so it looks like I'm using my UK paypal account from abroad.0 -
WE had trouble with paypal scam email, we sold something and recieved an email apparently from paypal saying that paypal has taken the money from the buyers bank account and paypal would hold it untill we reply to them with a tracking number for proof of posting, so silly me, i posted the item to nigeria thinking it was a birthday present for someones daughter and wrapped it in pretty paper and everything, i posted it off and came back with the tracking number(recorded delivery) and replied to the email, ... did i ever recieve any money? No i didn't.
so watch out for that one to.0 -
Judging from the spelling mistakes I *think* this one ia a scam.

I recevied a spoof email from paypal regarding a pair of boots I had sold on ebay.
I sold boots to an ebay member whose address was Bombay I sent the invoice to him for the boots and the international postage £12.50 for boots and £8.00 postage.
I received an email claiming to be from paypal looked authentic stating that paypal were holding £25.oo from the above customer and once I posted item to the buyer I had to enter some kind of tracking no into the link on the email, I take it then I may have been asked for somemore information but I noticed at that point that the name and address of the buyer on ebay was different to what paypal were asking me to send to. Once the tracking id no was entered paypal were then going to release the money to my account.
The email has been checked and is a spoof and the buyer is no longer registered on ebay.
Please be aware of this.
