Ebay and paypal spoof mails. Please read

It's random, they send phishing emails to any combination of addresses they can think of. Thousands are sent out at a time and if only 10 addresses are actually valid they don't really care.
I've had phishing mails on most of my accounts, even those not used for ebay. I've had them from banks that I don't use and companies I've never heard of. The only email accounts not likely to get these mails are emails with a random nonsensical set of words and numbers. I set up a really strange Hotmail account once, it has never got any spam mail at all, ever!

Not sure if its been covered, but apparently, ebay/pay pal Always start with
"Hello/Dear xxx" where xxx is your username
Scams always start
"hello/dear Paypal/Ebay Member".
its the easiest way to find out if its a scam... if it says to paypal/ebay member, its deff a scam. but of course if it has your name it doesnt mean its from pay pal/ebay0 -
No Ebay and Paypal don't use your user name, anyone can get that. They use the name you have registered with them. If you are a John Smith they will use Dear John or Dear John Smith not your ebay id 'dear fluffybunny'.
Some of the more blatant and personal phishing mails will often use a corruption of your user name or your email address which can look quite good at a first glance.

Phil, you are lucky to only have had three in 3 weeks. I can usually guarantee to get three a day spread over my various accounts, more if you count the bank ones as well.
I recently had several one after the other in my inbox, I assume the scammers 'send' button got stuck. They were all identical and wasted my time having them download.

I was accessing my email whilst on holiday and I got this which I replied to because I thought it was a from a buyer who hadn't received something.
"Subject: Re: Question From eBay Member"
"Hello,
I would like to know how the things are going with our transaction. Can you email me asap or can you call me ?!
Thanks
You can view the item clicking on the link below:
Altered so nobody accesses the link!

Thank you,

I can't believe I did as I am a powerseller who should know better but I clicked on the link and it asked for my id and password which i entered!
It took me to a page that was a poor copy of an auction which had ended on a house in the US which didn't have a winning bidder although it was supposedly me!
Straight away I thought I'm in trouble here so closed the page down and went on to ebay to change my password.
I then forwarded it to spoof@ebay.co.uk for them to tell me it was spam from another member which i find hard to believe.
Anyone received anything similar? No reliance should be placed on the above.0
