I had a package holiday booked with Love Holidays. Due to Covid19 it was cancelled. Love Holidays stated that I had to deal with the airline myself ie, Request refund or amend flight dates. I decided to amend dates (to next year) and contacted Love Holidays informing them of the new date and asked them to move the rest of my package to this new date. Love Holidays have issued us a voucher instead of letting us amend the rest of our booking. When we try to re-book the other elements Hotel, transfers etc through Love Holidays using that voucher they are saying we are not ATOL protected as we amended the flights ourselves and they're now not included in the package??? But we had no other option and have amended those flights under the original reference of Love Holiday booking.
We have constantly tried to contact Love Holidays from the moment it was cancelled, with no luck. It was not made clear that if we amended dates ourselves we were then not ATOL protected under the package? Any else having this problem or have any advice please?!0 -
I rather fear they may be correct as you are now the contracting party with Ryanair and all you are buying from Love is the accommodation which on its own cannot create a package. You could have insisted that as you had bought a package, they make all the arrangments and this looks as though they may be looking for a way around the rules. This is not meant to happen and I haven't heard that 'excuse' before, you might want to contact the CAA and ask their advice1

I have booked a package holiday with teletext holidays. The hotel I booked is closed and won't open before we are due to arrive. Am I entitled to a full refund??? Teletext holidays say 'no'. They say the flights (ryanair) are non-refundable....that I will be offered alternative accommodation....and if I cancel I will be charged.0

This will be covered in the t&c’s so worth rereading.
What you are being told is likely correct. The agents responsibility with a package would typically be to provide alternative accommodation of the same or a higher standard in the same area as originally booked. If this is not offered the customer would be entitled to a full refund on the package. Just also check you have a package arrangement booked (refer to your ATOL certificate).

Hi, Looking for some advice.
DECEMBER 2019- Booked through Travel Bag and paid in full on Credit Card a packaged trip from UK-Abu Dhabi -Due to fly out March 2020 -( Flights and Hotel Package).
Trip was cancelled due to Covid, we were given alternate dates so moved the date of the holiday to fly out 23rd Sept 20, This booking was actually cheaper so we were issued a credit note for the remainder of the balance ( £350+) to use at other time.
Problem is now, currently Abu Dhabi is not allowing any tourists to enter the country. We've contacted Travel Bag who have advised us that its best to wait 10 days before flying, just to see if the airline cancel the flight, as they are otherwise not permitted to apply for a refund and this will be issued to us as another credit note.
We dont want another credit note, we want a full refund now of the whole total amount spent ( original booking in Dec 19).
Travel Bag have also said that any credit note has to be with the same airline, which seems ridiculous anyway. We just want a full refund and be able to book another trip for the same dates to another destination.
Any advise on our legal rights, Ive thought we would be covered under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act however not so sure tbh!

Hi. Can anyone help. My partner and I were due to go on holiday today to Algarve. We booked a package holiday with Jet2 direct. Unfortunately our car broke down on the way to the airport and we missed our flight. Despite ringing Jet2 all day I have been unable to get through constantly in a queue. Online chat constantly busy. Where do we stand? J am hoping to go on a later flight but not sure whether my hotel booking is still valid and whether my return flight is still valid. Can anyone give me any advice??? I laid over £2000 for this holiday so dontvwant to lose it all together.

This is usually a travel insurance claim. Keep calling Jet2 to see what they say.ali56 said:Hi. Can anyone help. My partner and I were due to go on holiday today to Algarve. If you can get to MAN airport go to the Jet2Holidays desk for assistance. They may be able to get you on a later flight.ali56 said:Hi. Can anyone help. Hello, I really hope someone can help with this self-catering rental problem. Last week we arrived at a holiday rental in Scotland. When we arrived we discovered the original cottage we had paid for was occupied. We had no notice of this change. The occupiers directed us next door to another cottage. The cottage felt cold, the small outside space was nearby 3 bins and the courtyard on the other side contained building rubble. It was nothing like the photos. The owner arrived. My husband said 1 sentence: ‘we are disappointed and could we show you the problems...’ She refused to discuss, told us twice to leave her property and ‘just go’. On her leaving us standing in the property she called back over her shoulder that she would refund the holiday cost minus our £150 deposit. We had to travel 400 miles home that night, we had a dog, it was already 4.45 pm and we did not want to have to travel 7 hours through the night to get back.
We had the balance repaid after 2 days but not the £150 deposit. We have no idea what we have done ‘wrong’ to cause us to potentially lose £150. Emails have been exchanged without any explanation.Where do we go from here?
Many thanks for any advice.0 -
Hi, I hope you can advise me. We had a return booking from Australia with Emirates returning in April 2020, this was cancelled at short notice. We had to arrange passage home via another company. I am hoping to claim the extra costs for the return flights from my travel insurance company, they require the cost of the cancelled flights to Manchester via Dubai. The flights were booked through a third party so Emirates will not deal with me directly only with the third party. We were originally offered etickets for future use but have asked for a refund for the return flights. This seems to be taking far too long for the information to send to the insurance company and for the refund from Emirates via the third party booking agents.
What are my options, apart from waiting in frustration and out of pocket.
Thank you0
