Sorry I've continuing with my absence... really need to pull myself together! At least I have got my spends up to date. Shop tonight for the week - it'll basically be fresh veg. Have meal planned to use a couple of freezer meals, and add a couple of others, so whilst my plan takes me to this time next week, actually I could last longer.

Hope everyone is ok. Haven't quite caught up on the thread yet.

Elsiepac, you do seem to be struggling. Just by way of constructive support I added up your signature spends for the last 8 months and your average spend between November and June (inclusive) is £208.95 per month.

Based on this empirical evidence, would you consider increasing your target to £200 per month and then aiming for a small reduction month-on month, rather than a target you always miss?

    - A lot of people split their budgets into weekly amounts - given your approach over the months does reflect someone who prefers to do your weekly shop (and top-ups), and always has certain things in your cupboard, why not add a week for your stores to each month - so for a five week month in July you would divide by six (yes, I know £200 doesn't divide by six) giving you £33 per week and £35 for your re-stocking.

It's just a suggestion. I feel so sad for you when you miss every month. If something has to change, why not try this?
    Save £12k in 2024 - #2 target is £5000 only £798.34 so far
OS Grocery Challenge 2024 31.1% spent or £932.98/£3,000 annual

This should have been a cheap shopping week this week, but an impromptu BBQ put paid to that! Still it is seldom the combination of a) the weather and b0 folk being free collide that it was too good an opportunity to miss. Total spend this week now £32 bringing budget to £129/£170. I'm not going to stay in budget this month.

    Spent £15.21 today.
So I have bananas for the week, oranges for work break, pears for the week, as well as bean sprouts, tomatoes, cabbage, mushrooms, and sweet and sour sauce for tonight's dinner. No prizes for what I'm having tonight. A few other vegetables as well.
OH got milk, bread, cheese, ham and a stir fry mix.

    £116.77/155.
    £38.23 left.

Weekly sop done in Aldi and Asda with £1 spent on toothpaste (which we needed anyway) in the co-op to get some change for the trolley at aldi as I didn't have any cash on me at all and used the cashpoint at the co-op on the way there.

Total spent on food was £49.56 with a fiver of that on crisps and a bag of wine gums

I meal planned for the week and costed everything out on mysupermarket before I went which helped me stick well but not exactly to my list.

I split what was left of my budget after last weeks shopping across the last 3 weeks of the month and created a separate line for each week on YNAB. This means I have £14.44 left until next Thursday if we need anything.

    Total now is £267.98/£410.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%

Nsd today. Ate from the fridge and cupboards for dinner - well, ds ate at a friend's.

Really pleased that I've been paid back for some stuff I've bought for work... I don't get paid for another 9 days, but now I've been given back the money, I'll be fine. £61.50 is a lot of money!!

Don't have to feed the children tomorrow as they're having dinner with their dad. I don't know if I'll want any dinner myself as I'm going to a charity cake afternoon :).

Really busy this weekend, including having dinner at a friend's on Sunday, so I won't be doing a weekly shop until Monday, instead of Sunday. The only exception is that I'll buy a loaf in ffoods tomorrow.

    Night all

    Evening all

DH volunteered to go for some baked beans, spuds, milk and cream whilst I was watching the tennis. He came back an hour later having managed to spend £25.64 of which £10.89 was grocery  and he didn't get any spuds  Plus that meant we had spag bol for dinner instead of lamb chops, steamed veg and potatoes dauphinoise - not impressed.

Have to do an Al*i shop t/m but don't need a huge amount.

Hope you all have a super weekend

nipped in lidles... well as much as you can on a Saturday, for pork chops, carrots and some cheapo bread, and some reduced price crisps and a bottle of fizz fell in the basket :D
£7.50, am pleased with that cos 'family weekend' will have to be bought on Friday and that might be pricey

Really pleased with myself today. Did my weekly ship for £3.14! Still in the sixties out of a hundred, and won't need to shop much next weekend because I'm away for five days, then the last weekend of July will be spending the rest of the budget on stuff for the start of the holidays (or save it if I have willpower!).
