i also used nappy pins on the blanket...they don't bend as easily as ordinary ones and do fit the "theme"0

Hi Shelley,
No Idea! I think we kind of twisted it into a figure of 8 shape and then (this is where I can't really remember) it kind of stuffed one half of the 8 into the other! I think I'll leave it in the bag! lol!

I only used one pin on each tier at the back, then used double sided tape to hold the ribbon in place round it.

I love MSE as I think the people on the forums are fab, everyone is so helpful and friendly.
I usually am found in the Boots forum, when I have time, but have been popping in and out of this one.
Everyone's nappy cakes look FABULOUS! Well done to you all, you should be so proud of yourselves.
I was going to make my friend a nappy cake, she is due in November, but had no idea that I should dress it up to look so fab, so thank you to everyone on this forum for all your pictures, you have given me a great idea for making it better.
Can I ask, someone said to me, if you make the nappy cake now, and your friend isn't due until november, won't the nappies spoil by then? Is this true?0 -

Hi Aureol i haven't made up a cake that much in advance so i dont really know the answer to that one. I wouldn't have thought so but perhaps you should do a trial one and try it. Don't forgot to post a pic

Sorry for double post, but I need a rant!!!!
Just speaking to a mate who was saying he needed some ideas for his god daughters christening gift. I thought ooooh could sell a cake here!
So showed him my latest cake and well didnt get the response Id expect.
Basically he thinks its disgusting and said why the hell would he want to buy that off me? I asked why he didnt like it and did he notice the room in the back (my front room). To which he said 'yeh thats your front room... So youre trying to pile it off on me as no one else wants it!!'
I then explained thats the one I made for my cousin and her baby, to which he replied 'ooh, you made it? Sorry but I still think its disgusting'
I asked if he knew what it even was and he was like 'no but I would no way give that'
I want to go cry in the corner nowGreen and White Barmy Army!0 -

Thank you Shelley. Will post one when made it! Don't think it will be half as good as the ones I see on here.
The Boots forum is all about bargains at Boots, ie nappies, baby stuff, makeup, etc. Basically Boots have the Advantage Card where you collect points on certain purchases which you can spend in store. But sometimes they have things called glitches where you find you can buy stuff from Boots cheaply or for free, because of offers they have on, or the coupons/vouchers they issue you. Recently, finishing on Tuesday, they have a "receive £5 off facial products from a list and receive £5 off No 7 and Ruby and Millie's makeup", which was great. As there was a lot of stuff you could get for no spend, ie the voucher covered the whole cost, ie Time Delay face wipes and Sanctuary masks, or could get for minimum spend, ie pay 37p.
I have all my christmas gifts bought or got for free through Boots glitches. As have been made redundant and living on a budget given by DH, this has come in really handy, as we won't have much money at Christmas.
There was an offer on the Huggies Newborn kit at Boots recently, where you could get it for £2.50 instead of the normal £5, naturally, it went flying off the shelves... Things like this are useful for making the nappy cakes, but I still look around at Poundland, etc for cheaper prices of the same products.
You should take a look. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1133307
kr15snw, thank you. I will make some space and give it a go. At least if I don't like the way it looks, can remake it.
About your mate, take no notice! I have been falling out with my some of my friends since DS was born, because of their attitude towards me. They seem to think I don't know how to be a mother, and that I am incapable of putting my pushchair on a bus, etc. I do it all the time on my own!
Some people are very hurtful and as others keep telling me, they don't mean to be, sometimes people don't realise what they are saying. I think the saying, "think before you speak" should be taught at an early age.
Your cakes look fab! He obviously doesn't understand what a nappy cake is about and how happy a mother would be to receive one! I would have been if anyone had done the same for me.0 -
