    hi kr15snw,

Have a look at www.flowerexperts.com They do charge £7.50 delivery so only worthwhile if you want to order quite a few bits or if you could club together with someone else who wants things. Their cellophane prices are
    Cello Clear 50Cm X 30Yds£2.10Cello Clear 50Cmx27.5Mt£1.92Cello Clear 62Cm X 30Yds£1.85Cello Clear 75Cm X 27.5M£2.77Cello Clear 80Cm X30Yds£2.25
    These prices are excluding VAT.
There are so many of us on here doing nappy cakes and crafty bits perhaps we could try and group together to get these sorts of things making the delivery charges more reasonable?

  • CAKE BOARDS>>
Personally I never charge for my cakes, they are either gifts, or if somebody asks me to make one I tell them what items to buy, So I can then ask them if i can have the cake board back later... I do tho sometimes use a melamine plate covered in either tin foil or wrapping paper in co-ordinating colours.

also depending what you have used in the centre it is possible to just wrap it in cello as that will hold it...

i always try to improvise if i don't have the correct supplies..

    hope it helps

Hi Shelly or anyone else with nappy cake craft fair experience!

I'm thinking about doing my first craft fair in a couple of weeks but have no idea how many cakes I would need to make for the stall! Can anyone help with any advice please! Also what sort of cakes sell better eg single tier, 3 tier, pink, blue or neutral?

    Thanks

Hi Becs, I found my yellow/cream 3 tier the most popular. The cupcakes were also popular but found less interest in 2 tier. I made up 4 different 3 tiers, 3 2 tiers and about 6 cupcakes. I found the neutral ones the most popular. I also took some orders on the day so dont worry if you dont make up enough of one colour. Good luck xx

    Thanks Shelley,

That's really helpful. Just need to wait and see if the fair organiser gets back to me! She posted on craft forum website they needed crafters for 21st septemeber. I emailed her yesterday so hopefully she'll get back. Really keen to give it a go especially as they only want £10 per table so not massive amount to pay out unlike other fair around here at the moment.

Will persuade hubby to let me give it a go! The one I did for work was given yesterday and she was very pleased with it. Major benefit to working somewhere with 200+ employees is I instantly became known as "the nappy cake lady" and everyone was talking about it! Hopefully will generate some orders.

Did you have any more from your fair Shelley?

I haven't received any more from the fair at the moment but a lot of people said the babies were not due yet or they were keeping me in mind for when they knew someone who was pregnant. I have had another 4 orders this week though from friends and at least another 4 for people later in the year.
I'm sure you will hear something today about the craft fair and people love something different so it should go down a treat.
One tip though make sure you list the ingredients of each cake and display on table so people can read it.
    Good luck xx

Shelley what do you put in the middle of yours?

For my first one I put a bottle of bucks fizz as I knew the receiver loved this and for these 2 Ive put a bottle of beer in the center for dad!

But looking at offering my services to friends to try and make some cash, so unsure what to suggest goes in the middle!

I put a johnsons talc in the middle which holds it together but I think the beer idea is great because everybody forgets about the dad. When I gave my friend one her OH suggested beer for the dad so might try that!!
The bottom tier contains the clothes and bath bomb sits in the top tier x

  • I have just come across this thread and it's amazing and I have decided that I want to try and make my own nappy cake for my friends daughter whi is going to be 1.

From reading the thread, I see I will Need the following but I need some guidance before I go shopping.

Nappies - How many for a size 12 months?
Cake board or something to sit it on
Bottles of some sort for the middle of 2 tiers
    A towel/blanket
    Clothes (which I already have)
    Ribbon
Elastic bands (anything I could use instead of these?)
    A toy for top

Cello and ribbon for wrapping but have this already for some baskets I am trying to make also!

Anything I have missed out? Unfortunately I've not left myself much time, I need things by tomorrow. I'm thinking my big Asda may have all the stuff i need - hopefully.

    Any help appreciated!

Hi Clarabell welcome to the addiction LOL.
I would say you probably need about 30 - 35 nappies for a 1 year old depending on the nappies but obviously this all changes depending on how many gifts you put inside.
You will definitely need elastic bands to hold the nappies together. Depending on how you do the ribbons you may need glue. I dont tie mine i glue them.
I also use safety pins to secure the blanket but that is because I dont tie the ribbons in place which secures it.
Everything else on your list seems great - have fun and post us a pic xx:T
