Hi Rusty, I know you have said before that you add up the real price of nappies etc not the sale price, when you do your costings. Do you do this on everything e.g. the ellies that should be £3 each etc?

Sunny Saver – Pampers Nappies are white with a yellow band across top. Mind you,
they are newborn size 2, so not sure about other sizes.
P.S. Maybe your mum will get the bug as well! LOL!

Julie H – Good Luck for your craft fair! Hope you sell loads!

    Hi Moonpenny,

Yes I do, Mainly because I can then have a set price of say £25 and know that at least x amount of that is profit and the rest goes back into stock. Also it helps cause my local asda has run out of ellies, meaning that I would have to go 7 miles to the next where they are £3 instead of £1.50 It just makes things easier and I know that I will always have X amount of profit from that cake, any other bit of profit is always a bonus. :)

    Hope that helps :)

I can email you my spreadsheet if you want to have a look?

thanks Rusty, Have got your spreadsheet you sent before - somewhere!

Think I will have to revise things - Will probably get a shock when I add things up "real" prices!

No Julie I am not happy at being accused of copying every single little thing everyone does! I have not copied anyones things, I have always made my own things and if it comes to copying then howcome it is always about me? What about every other single person on this thread who does exactly the same things as everyone else. This has all come over since Bella claimed I have copied her website word for word! the only thing I can see which is the same is 1 sentence which is the same. I am sorry you feel that way bella, but I did not copy your website, my website has sat hidden behind a screen so that it was just a holding page til we had the time to get some of it done, I had all of my written words in there not long after we bought the web addresses. I do not copy anyone off here nor do I plan to.

Julie there was no need to put a comment on here, you could have easily commented on the other thread so as not to stir it up but hey I guess it is done now and out in the open! no doubt everyone else will jump on the bandwagon again like they usually do and follow the little clique group!!!

All I have done on this thread is try to help people make their own cakes, I have also made up my own to try and bring in a bit of money to pay the mortgage. I am not set out to rip anyone off with stupidly high overpriced items or anything else I am trying to put money on the table so I can feed my kids!

Rant over, if anyone has anything to say then please feel free to PM me rather than clog up this thread!

As far as copying goes we are all guilty of it. Most of these products started in the states and we have cpoied them. This thread is to help and advise others. If you dont want ideas copied, simple, dont post on this thread.

I know I am fairly new at this but I openly admit to sopying the idea of nappy cakes from this thread!!

I have a few ideas of my own (probably not great ones:o) but if anyone likes them then feel free to do the same!!

Ive heard people on this thread all saying that they have copied ideas off sites from the states so we are all as bad as each other.

I dont want to clog up this thread either but I think this is really silly. Rusty I agree with you 100%
 Thanks to everybody in the crafting threads who inspired me to start my own business!!

Just bee window shopping with my mum to look at things for my first (and probably only) nappy cake.

We went to Matalan, Moonpenny, and saw those hooded towel things that you used... They also had some pretty ones in pink too.

That store has such cute things!

We also went to Ethel Austin, they've got some baby stuff reduced in price at the moment: so keep an eye out as you might find something cheap.

My mum had a suggestion... what do you ladies think. She said to make the tier of the cake with nappies, maybe I could use a 5lb empty chocolate tin as a template and pack the nappies in there. Do you think it would work?

I know the stalwarts won't need to do that, but I was thinking of us novices.

However, for the good of the posters on here, you might all want to put yourselves out and eat a whole tin of chocolates and try it. When you eat for the sake of research, the calories don't count.

She also said I should make a list of my ingredients BEFORE I went shopping otherwise I'd go overboard and just buy everything that's cute and sweet.

The other thing she said was, and it's true, I could spend hours and hours making a cake for my BIL's baby and he and his gf wouldn't appreciate it anyway :(... Even if it was up to your standards they wouldn't, but f**k em, as I told my mum I'm doing it for me, ie because I've seen all your beautiful works of art, and I want to try it for myself.

A friend just had a baby and if I'd thought of it, I would have done one for her baby boy: she would have appreciated it.

    Happy Easter everyone.

I don't want to clog up this thread either but tbh Julie its not enough to say 'thats why I took it off' - you put it on in the first place and obviously some of us saw it when there was absolutely no need for it to be here in the first place in my opinion.

I totally agree with Rusty & Riggerz - its seems to me that its kind of the point of this thread to give ideas & for people to have a go themselves - no point then getting upset when/if people make cakes/gifts themselves that are similar to the photos that have been posted - if you don't want your 'ideas' to be copied simply don't post them but tbh everyone's creations have been 'copied' from somewhere! I've also been doing research whilst trying to come up with my own leaflets & possible website eventually & tbh I would say that everyone's wording is on the same theme & therefore there are only so many words to describe the nappy cakes & gifts so bound to be similar/same - all the websites I've looked at for research they were.

Anyways, enough said - Rusty you have always been a great help to me & I have found your posts really really helpful & useful so thankyou ever so for that.

Now must get back to my house cos every room is starting to overflo with baby things!!

Went to Sainsb**y today & used the Huggies voucher to get the free Mum pamper pack!! Its lovely actually & am planning to somehow use it in a nappycake!
