Hi jojo_sapphire, don't have any idea what shops you have in N.Devon (I live in Yorkshire)
All the big supermarkets are a good bet, particularly Asda and Tesco. Look out for any deals going!
Also - Primark, Matalan, T J Hughes. Dunelm Mill. Home Bargains is also known as T.J. Morris.
Hope this helps!0 -

I don't know if anyone uses wipes in your cakes but if you do Tesco have 6 packs of Johnsons for £4.50. They also had some Winnie the Pooh toys reduced to £1.50 from £3.00. I resisted the temptation to buy any - I need to sell some first!!Avon Rep - C13 68.86; C14 259.29; C15 218.28; C16 268.42; C17 ...?

Rusty - loving your WTP cake!! those blankets are lovely - was looking at them in Matalan last week but decided they were too pricey for my first attempt!! Bought a lovely cheaper one though in pink with butterflies on & will be trying to make my first cake this week! Didn't get round to it last week as had my nan's funeral so my parents were staying etc. Just wanted to ask where do you get your ribbons? Is it off ebay & if so which seller do you find the best? I've got everything I need now except the ribbons & not sure what to get - is it best to get florist wide ribbon & then overlay it with organzer ribbon or 'baby' patterned? sorry so many questions!!0 -

I haven't seen the burping cloths in HB so will have to have another look.
I agree with the wholesalers the stuff looks very tacky!!!
Theres a B & M in Merthyr if thats any good to you. Where the old Woolies used to be. Not alot of baby things in there tho.0 -

Thankyou Popkins, sorry to hear about your nan. The ribbon on this cake came free with a blanket from primark. It was wrapped around the blanket and I just kept the ribbons off all of my balnkets thinking they might come in useful. Lucky I did as it was perfect for this cake.
I don't use ebay for my ribbons, although I think Shelley does/did? I buy from a company in yorkshire called Taylors. I do use the florist wide ribbon and then use a patterned ribbon over, I just think it looks prettier and my cakes look a lot nicer now than my first ones.
I think I answered all of your questions :rotfl:Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Thanks Groovygirl I'm in Bridgend but the inlaws also go to Merthyr regular so I will send them with my shopping list:D
Hi Popkins I have used Ebay for some ribbons and have always used Beaux ribbons the seller on there. However I have always bought the florist ribbon locally quite cheap.
I also use Cloverdale Mice and Ribbon Mad - I just shop around until I get the best deal.
I've always used the florist ribbon with the silk or organza on top. I also make a ribbon bow and glue that on separately because I find my bows are neater that way. Hope that helps xLittle Miss Chatterbox

Thankyou Shelley & Rusty for answering all my questions!! Will keep my eyes peeled everywhere I go & also pop into my local florist to see if they can do me a deal! How much do you tend to spend on your ribbons - just trying to gauge what is and isn't a good price really? TIA0

I've paid between £5 and £8 for a reel of approx 20 metres - did become quite expensive when you have to buy in different colours but they do last.Little Miss Chatterbox
