As Shelley said the prices can be fairly expensive but definately cheaper to buy a roll than by the metre.
I paid £4.12 inc delivery for my gingham ribbons from wholesale though.Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

Nicky, I have to agree with the above two posts. I would keep it quite simple. The mini one I have made, below, cost just £6. It has ten nappies, 1 bib, 1 winding cloth and Ellie. I am going to put a pair of socks at the front. It could probably do with another few nappies but the winding cloth goes round the 10 perfectly.
What method did you use for the nappies? Rolling or swirling? I have tried with 10 nappies and either way i cannot seem to get a winding cloth to go all the way around.
thanks Nicky0 -

Nicky. i have just made this one up, unwrapped and without the cakeboard it has cost £12.00, costing in the ribbon. But of course I wouldn't ever sell for that price but just thought i'd give you an idea of how one could look.. if i took off the top tier it would come in to below the £10 mark

Without sounding cheeky, could i ask what it contains? i tried to make a single tier with 10 nappies, a winding cloth and soft toy, but i wasnt happy with it, so i pulled it to bits again.0 -
nicky
bottom tier 19 rolled nappies. 1 blanket, 1 pair socks
middle tier 16 rolled nappies. 1 vest and 1 wash mitt, 2 wash cloths
top tier 6 nappies . 1 vest, toy rattle,
As you'll have noticed i haven't used anything to hold the tiers as its a budget one. what i have done is slotted white pieces of cardboard between the layers to secure together, but i do find the middle tier always sits firmly onto the bottom so its mainly for the top 2
to finish its just decorated with florist curled ribbon0 -

Hello ladies,
Having been inspired by this long thread, I decided to make a nappy cake for my friend who is expecting her first baby. I have bought all the bits and bobs and seeing as she's going in to be induced tomorrow morning, I think I'd better make a start on it! Right, here I go - I may be some time...:)Mortgage Free as of 03/07/2017 :beer:0 -
