Nicky you have to be firm, you could make a cake like mine, and also Irlips, for a similar price and charge £10. if she trys to knock you down then you need to tell her that you will have to take it back
I used to make these ones:
And sell them for £7.50 ok so I didn't make a lot on them but still plenty for my time.
Teddy was £1 from asda
Muslin cloth worked out at 77p
4 nappies max price 15p each so 60p
ribbon 10p
cello 10p
total cost £2.57Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

JulieH, Your daughter looked beautiful on her Wedding Day. Glad you had a lovely day!
Uptomyeyes, Congrats on the birth of your little boy! Good weight as well!
About the “Baby blooms” – my dughter received some (don’t know if it was the same company!) from work when my grandson was born last yr, and she said the same thing about the quality. They were embroidered but not a patch on what we all buy for Nappy Cakes from Asda, Matalan etc.
I’ve looked at different “wholesale” companies to buy clothes from, but they are rubbish, with no choice and more expensive than buying retail. Has anyone else found this?
Rusty, Your Winnie Pooh cake looks fab! I love those blankets from Matalan – they are so soft – but a bit expensive! Looks gorgeous!0 -
nicky I think the best thing you can do is make up the cake in a way you are happy to, and explain to your Aunty that this is a one off and you have not made a single penny on it which doesn't matter as she's your close relative, but to tell anybody asking that they would ahve to speak to you personally for a price if they wish one to be made..
A single tier can be made to look so good with a good coloured blanket and nice ribbon, a cute toy on the top and with lotion/talc or a couple vests inside
all the best0 -
Uptomyeyes, I am so sorry I completely skimmed past your post! not sure how I managed it. Congratulations on the birth of Riley! what a lovely name ... however I don't envy you having such a big baby ... mine were both just over 7llb and that was big enough :rotfl: Hope you are doing well
Enjoy him whilst he is young, they grow up sooooo fast!
Oooh well done cookiedough! Can't wait to see pics! I haven't attempted a twin one yet!
Threelittlepigs I rolled the first one, pu
t a band around then rolled 3 more individually around it so that it made 1 big fat nappy, I overlapped them just slightly where one ended, if that makes sense
Moonpenny thankyouI could have spent a fortune today in Matalan ... Whilst the blanket was more expensive I definately think it was worth it
Who is the wholesale company for burpcloths? I love the ones from Matalan but haven't personally used them ... I had a good feel today though.... I think I prefer the burpcloths to muslins, although personally I had more use for muslins with my 2 as I used to lay them down on their mats with no nappies so muslins were better for me

I love it. I have an order for a £50 Winnie the Pooh cake but in Lemon.I bought a classic Pooh as it is paler in colour but love the one you have on the top of this cake. Can I ask where you got it from as it would look good on the other two Pooh cakes I am making? I have eventually got all the things together so must start it soon.0 -

Hi Irlip, so you mean the actual teddy? It is actually one of them comfort blankies, but you can stuff the actual blankie inside pooh to make him fatter or have it out. It came from asda and was just under £7 again expensive but they are paying for it so I won't complain. Where did you buy your classic pooh from?Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
lrlrip - your cake in post is the £6.00 for all your materials? or just the nappies, ellie, bib, and winding cloth?
Without me sounding cheeky, would you sell this kind of cake for £10.00, I myself would think it would be worth £10.00, but knowing my luck my aunt may offer me £6.00
Ellie £3.00 (paid £1.50)
nappies £1.50
bib 83
cloth 67
Total £6.00 (really £4.50) before ribbon and cello.0
