Blimey .... I'm exhausted after reading all the new posts. Fab cakes everyone. And the sock boquets ..... wow!!! Somehow, I don't think I could get my head around them at the mo.

Congrats everyone on the sales. I was beginning to feel a bit left out, hadn't had an order for 3 weeks, then got 2 this week.

My friends and relatives have been handing out my leaflets, and it's amazing just how many of them had said 'I'll ask if I can put one up at my son's/daughters school or nursery'. So I ended up using the 7 stamps I had and posted a leaflet to some nursery's ...... and got a call yesterday from one of them :j . I delivered the cake today and the girl said 'hope you don't mind, but I've put your leaflet on the notice board!!!'
So tomorrow I think I will go and get more stamps and send to the rest of them!!!

    Well done:D

I must get on with my leaflets!
  • thanks all for your advice - I don't have much of the spotty ribbon left but I have some orange so may try that to see what it looks like.

the ribbons were a bargain from tescos in the sale for 75p for 5 different ribbons a yard each

Gorgeous cakes and bouquets ladies, you're all so talented. You really inspire me to get on with making/advertising mine, I must get it done.

Btw, these Asda elephants you keep mentioning, they are definitely £1.50 in my local Asda (Morley, Leeds). They are in their own basket stand on the children's toy aisle, not the baby aisle. There were bears of the same brand in there too, the sign said £2 but a smaller barcode ticket said £1.50 for the elephants and they had white/cream, pink and blue. I had to buy one as my baby son made a swipe for one and refused to let go, and cuddled him all round the store - well it let me get my shopping done LOL!

    Hi Ilrip,

Found some bees for you. Love the Bee Bootees and the Winnie Pooh Bee. Bit expensive though and some might not be suitable for babies.

Well done girls on the cakes and orders. could I ask where you girls purchase your boxes and what posting methods do you use?

Also Ive heard people talking about 39% profit? Is this the total added onto your cakes after pricing up but before cello wrapping etc?

Im pretty new to this, but people have been asking for prices & pictures from further away and I hadn't even given this a thought!

julie, can i ask what size cups you use for ur baby smoothies? dont worry i wont be putting them on ebay. is purely for the craft fairs i go to. u can pm me if u prefer not to tell everyone
love you lots like jelly tots :o
  • Well i have been very busy promoting myself this week. Sent emails off to companys and places that may have craft fairs etc put up posters and buisness cards every where and i bet it will be all for nothing  Because there is already an established lady doing them near me.
When i went to put one of my cards in a shop there was already an advert there. Decided to look on ebay sure enough i found the lady and she is in the same little town as me. She may well be on here hello, I'm not sure it's worth trying to compete her prices are double of mine i only sell a 3 tier for £20 as it isn't a well off area.

Also i have already had replies back saying basicly thanks but no thanks.

One good thing is i have been offered a stall at a craft fair but the stall is £200:eek:   just for one day. If i had sold some already then i would do it but that would be £200 down the drain. Even if i sold any on the day i wouldn't even make any profit it would go towards paying for the stall. I can't believe they can charge that much.

Went to get some more stuff today as have had 2 orders. Have Asda completely stopped their pretty blue, pink and neutral sets of short sleeve baby suits now? (£5 for 7 suits)

They didnt have them at mine, only had plain pink and blue ones with no patterns on. They used to have some with a variety of colours and patterns :(
