Moonpenny- your cakes are fab hun- really gorgeous and so were your roses too with cute little leaves. I'm getting quite quick at making sock roses x

Emma83- Wow- what a beautiful cake!

I have been approached by a kids website to supply them cakes. The website doesnt have a huge amount of traffic but more than mine so having them on there may help spread the word for me...hmmm still dont know - any advice or suggestions on that one girls?

I've also contacted a shop on the site of a HUGE company that has thousands of employees. I have sold about 4 cakes to them for maternity leaves so I rang the shop there and they said they were thinking of contacting me!! I have an appointment with them on Tuesday morning so fingers crossed. They have asked me to come along with some cakes and bouquets so I better get cracking on them...yikes...theres my weekend gone! I now have to work out how much discount I am prepared to give them so they can sell them on and make profit. Its all very confusing and I feel a bit out of my depth now lol! I need retail advice!!!.....anyone?

    B xx

Wow Moonpenny they look beautiful! How did you attatche the dresses in the end? I really like them!

Emma your cake looks lovely well done :)

Bella you need to work out how much each one has cost you then charge a set rate for them so you make enough profit, then let the company add on their own rate to charge :)

Thanks rusty. Yeh, I know exactly how much they cost to make right down to the cost of the length of cellophane and ribbon and even rubberbands lol! Its just how much I am willing to discount without taking away the cost of my 'time and travel' making them up. Its working that bit out really. I think there will be some negotiations. I've asked to see the accountant to discuss it all and register my business officially....am all excited!:j

And finally I was asked to make a bouquet in neutral colours. Unfortunately they need it for when I am on holiday so i can't put the usual fresh gypsophelia in it.

Hiya, a tall bottle of baby shampoo etc poking from one tier to the next seams to work for me i have also seen mentioned using a wooden sick through the tiers. Also once you wrap in cello that helps;)

    Good Luck,
P.s just a warning its very addictive!

I'm just a lurker on this thread, I really admire all your cakes. Afraid I'm past the baby stage now so no chance of me making them, however I just wanted to pass on something that I saw today. The M&S outlet store had some gorgeous little cuddly dogs which only cost about £1.50, I didn't take much notice but I thought how nice they would be on cakes, so it might be worth a look if you have a store nearby.
    Keep up the good work.

    Heres my nappy cake

Thanks Rusty for all your help your a gem xx
Im not sure about the curly ribbon I might change that for a bow. I think Ive added too much stuff.
Does every cover the nappys showing between the layers? I think this is one of the places Ive gone wrong by using too many socks to try and cover the nappys up
    What do you think?

WOW!!!! That looks amazing!!! Well done saveapenny, I am sure they will love it. Personally if it was me ... I wouldn't change a thing :D I never cover my nappys which show between the nappies, but I think your sock roses look so effective. Was the tutorial easy enough to understand?

I haven't had a chance to get to the post office today as I don't feel too good so have slept most of day. I haven't forgotten you though and will post them on monday. xxx

Yayyyy!!! Can't believe my lovely DIL has sold BOTH my "dress" cakes. The woman who placed the original order for her daughter wanted both of them but said hubby would kill her, Anyway she plumped for the brown/pink spotty one. Then someone else in the office bought the other one for her friend. Someone else also wants my blue elephant cake I made ages ago so well pleased.

Bellag, what a great turn-up. (What did you say about a shop a while back?) I know it's not your shop but the next best thing, that's if the figures work out! So exciting ,but I'm afraid I'm glad I don't have to make the decision.

    Chatty, your bouquet is stunning!

Rusty, I fastened the dresses with little safety pins under the folded bit. Wasn't great but the ribbon on the bodice bit helped.
