how r they stoppid? i got one when my girl was born it was best presents..... what od u need when u have a baby another teddy?? another photo album?? or nappies, clothes, toileteris the practile things u wil use. but nobdiy comes to the hoislta with a box of nappies and things in an asda bag, so this is just a nice was of dispalying it, and its good fun to open up....

er OK. Actually my whole post was just a gag. I thought 'Y-fronts Lasagne' was quite amusing and I had to set it in some kind of context.

I have several (two I think) children of my own and I have spent several million pounds on nappies over the past five years so I appreciate that the gift of nappies is a welcome one. But a cake???

well done!:T Have you used the rolling method for your nappies or swirling? What size is your cake board and how many nappies and what sizes are they?

I find the "Card Factory" and "Asda" at the moment good for soft toys.

    i rolled them
not sure of the size of cake board lol
    it was from asda 52p
there is just 17 nappies in it they are size 2 pampers
will check out the card factory for teddys thanks
forgot to look in asda when i went for a teddy:rolleyes:
my blanket looks a bit squashed round the bottom
    how do you prevent that?

For those of you who sell your cakes, how long does it take you to make a three tier cake and how much do you charge?
A three tier takes me about 30 minutes to make and wrap, no longer than 45 but sometimes it does take up to that.

Ooohhh fab, they may have a sale before July!!!

Did actually go to Matalan today (wondered if they may do Disney ;)) and bought socks, bibs and a blanket in the Pooh range and a set of burb cloths that colour match perfectly. Spent about £13 so got my fabric bits, picked up eco wipes, nappy bags, shampoo and nappy cream in Tesco today so just waiting for nappies to arrive and need a cuddly toy, oh and also the baby of course... :rotfl:

See we could be sisters cause you was thinking what I was thinking and went where I told you to go without seeing it :D

Glad you have some of the things sorted ;) xx
Thought i would give some advice.....

    2. If you find u running otu of nappies... dont wrap them so tight.
The idea of selling them is so you can have your basic set up for selling, I have recipe cards etc etc on mine and all of my capes have exactly the same items as I advertise aswell. I can't be false advertising!

    4. tesco nappies and pampers up 2 size 3 are best, huggies dont seem to roll so well, and asdas rnt good nappies to be even... i find

Personally people would prefer a brand name like pampers of huggies rather than a supermarket, having 2 children myself I would always buy a named brand even though I know tesco nappies are good having previously tried them. I find huggies are plain in comparison to the green pampers and also sixe 3 is the best size to use (again personal preference) and huggies roll better than pampers for me

    5. if you dont want to use a cake board, i have once used a new baby book... or you could use a photo album...

I never use cake boards now, I started to use them but find that the cake stays perfectly fine without a cake board once wrapped up in cello :) saves out the little bit of expense for both me and the customer

i also have made towel cakes, before for wedding presents, and i have made sock boquets for babys and new home boquets i shall post pics

    Your pics look lovely

I have added my bits on to your post :)

I'm a bit of latecomer to this thread and like the poster in #2 I had to Google 'nappy cake' just to see if it was actually what I imagined it would be.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but 'nappy cakes' are one of the most stupid and pointless things I have ever heard of.

Mind you, if anyone wants my recipe for a 'Y-front Lasagne', just PM me.
With all due respect if you find the cakes the most stupid and pointless thing you have ever heard of then why bother to post? We are all simply trying to make a little extra money by working hard!

Right thats me done for this evening ... see you in a few days :D

If you can roll the blanket to the exact height of the nappies it helps ;) it looks fine though, you will always be more concious than anyone else .... you will never be 100% happy with your work where as others will think it is beautiful ;) don't be so hard on yourself :D

Thank you that's so nice of you! I googled free nappies and have ordered samples of eco-friendly disposables (will get 8 if they all arrive!) and a set of 3 reuseables that were on a great offer. So this will give me 11 nappies for about £7. Going to pad it out with other bits and need to find some cute Winnie the Poog stuff as my friend is a big fan. Baby not due till July so I have some time :D

Thanks to everyone who's replied, all really helpful as always :T

    Fab cakes everyone :j

I think they do some winnie stuff in "savers" if you have 1 near.

I wasn't going to dignify this with a response at first but I feel quite upset and just have to know why you would bother to to provide us with that comment??? I agree with shellnapier - it's a way to give practical items in a beautiful way without handing over a pack of nappies etc.

Far be it for me to make you feel unwelcome on this thread because we are all really supportive of each other and for some of us (inc. me) it's a way to make friends when we are home alone with a baby/toddler for hours on end.

I imagine you'll be off now though to start your own Lasagna thread which may also be quite pointless and perhaps stupid but I would never deliberately take my time to post a negative comment on it. Each to their own.

My first cake was on a bit of budget - I spent all the money on Huggies and Muslins that I had to improvise the cake board using a cardboard square and some tin foil! Luckily it was a gift for a family member only.

I prefer using a cake board because i put a Johnsons wash in the bottom tier in the middle of the nappies and the board stopped it slipping out the bottom.

I agree, there are many posts & threads on these boards which I have read and thought...... Why? But I would not go posting insults. If it didnt interest me, or I thought it was pointless, I would just move on, and keep my opinions to myself!
