Hi everyone, Am dashing - Havn't had time to read everyones post, but to say I loved the white Christening Cake!
Been trying some new 2 Tiers - Tops & Toes (T-shirts!) What do you think? Do I need more socks on front? Sorry pic is so big!
Your ribbons and bows are so perfect. How do you manage to get perfection?0 -
First of all, beautiful cakes everyone, I especially love the one with the cute little shoes on!
I'd love to make a bit of pocket money from making my cakes and selling locally, but I really don't know where to start. I have made three so far (one for me, one for a cousin and one for a friend) and am planning a couple more shortly as gifts but word of mouth doesn't seem to be happening. I guess I need to be more pro-active. Can I ask please, what did everyone else do to attract their first customers?0 -
Thanks everyone for your lovely comments - I will leave well alone now!!!
Rusty, LOL, the "Tops and Toes" was my name for the cakes. I bought quite a few shoes in the sales and thought I would team them up with long sleeved t-shirts for a change. Will post pics when I have made others up.
Lots of new people on here lately and some great cakes!0 -
I have been having a play and have come up with some more new ideas but i dont think i will be putting them on ebay for a while going to try them out at some craft fairs 1st to see how they goI Love My Computer Because My Friends Live In It0

Going to start work on a sock bouquet today.
Got to pop into town for some supplies and will post picture later.
Could I ask how many nappies you girls use on average on each layer
eg my 3 layer cake was Top layer 6 nappies, middle layer 17 nappies, bottom layer 36 nappies.
Keep up the good work girls0 -
Moonpenny your cake is beautiful as always and looks so classy!!! I think the shoes, ribbons all work together lovely to give a beautiful finish. :T
Julie I think thats a really good idea x
Natbag I've done 3 craft fairs and have a facebook group but most of the sales are though word of mouth!! I had a lady contact me this week who placed an order for 2 and she lives 25 miles away but she heard through a friend of a friend. I have lots of orders through work too.Little Miss Chatterbox

Hi Rainmac,
If you know what reuseables you want, let me know and I can see about a price for you as I'm registered with a couple of wholesalers so can get them at cost.
Becs
Thank you that's so nice of you! I googled free nappies and have ordered samples of eco-friendly disposables (will get 8 if they all arrive!) and a set of 3 reuseables that were on a great offer. So this will give me 11 nappies for about £7. Going to pad it out with other bits and need to find some cute Winnie the Poog stuff as my friend is a big fan. Baby not due till July so I have some time
Thanks to everyone who's replied, all really helpful as always :T
Fab cakes everyone :j:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

Now I use 31 nappies but I use a swirling method like Bella and Becs as I had a break from the cakes over christmas, however I did use to use the rolling method and only ever used to use 34 nappies, but cant for the life of me remember how I used to get them looking so good so changed to the swirling method.Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

Is there a disney store near you? quite regularly they have sales and there is nearly always pooh teddies on offer, we picked up quite a few different ones for my girly and only paid a maximum of £2.50 each .... normally they are £10
Also in Asda and Matalan they both do pooh ranges on their clothes, some of them are very pretty and yet still reasonably pricedRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0
