    Hi everyone

Finally finished my first cake. don't know if I like it though! Not sure about everything on the outside. What do you all think?

(Don't hold back, I can take it! LOL.)

P.S. it's the first time i've posted a picture so am unsure how to do it - so here goes!

Brilliant! Very differant in colour to everyone else. I personally like pastel shades on babies but I am sure there are lots who would adore something differant. Well done:T

Just wanted to say all your nappy cakes are fab! I'm planning on making one for my best friend, not due til feb so I've got some time to gather bits and pieces.
I'd like to make a 3 tier one so any advice on how many nappies etc. would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi All,

I just found this thread and I would love to make one for my friend who had her 2nd bubba last week.

I already have some baby bits at home but I wondered where I'd get quite a few elastic bands, some safety pins, ribbon and cellpophane from?

    Thanks

Can I just say thanks to everyone in this thread for the inspiration. My friends twins are both having babies at the same time, and I have decided that 2 nappy cakes would make great gifts.

One is having a boy - need to find out what the other baby will be, or going to have to go for cream.

I got my elastic bands from Woolies (recommended by someone here) they cost about 55p; you can get ribbon and cello from www.flowerhour.co.uk or if you only want enough to do one cake try your local florist or Clintons sell it by the metre, probably cheaper places around than them

    Thanks everyone,

for your comments on my "Funky Monkey" cake.

The whole thing turned out much more colourful than I intended and I am still unsure. Took me all afternoon faffing about. Am going to leave it for a while and try another one.

Rusty Flange - The blanket was from our old favourite Home Bargains. It is sort of an apricot colour.

I used 33 size 3 Pampers nappies in mine but I've only ever done one, it completely filled a 12" cake board. If you use newborn nappies I suppose you use more.

My elastic bands were from Woolies, a biggish bag of them for 55p so it was probably me who suggested woolies lol if you just want normal ribbon then as crystal clear suggested a florists sell it by the metre, for a 3 tier cake you will need approx 2.5-3 metres. If you want a satin ribbon then a local craft shop should supply these, they are a little more expensive. again the same amount needed on a 3 tier cake.
