Hi Everyone, All you ladies who have sold Christmas Cakes, (I haven’t made any this year) can I pick your brains?
Can I ask you what have sold the best? i.e. 3 Tiers, 2 Tiers, Minis etc. I bet the little ones sold the best! Am trying to work out what to buy in sales for next Xmas. Hope you don’t mind me asking!

JulieH – They had some little packs of Baby flannels in Savers but I don’t know if they had yellow. I have seen some packs of yellow in a little local shop here called Warehouse Discounts. Don’t know if the shop is in other places.

Rusty – About boxes – My cake boards are 12ins, so boxes would be too small. They also measure 24ins high up to bow, so about 28ins to top of Cello. Do you know if they do taller boxes but not too wide?
Also, do you fold over the top of Cello to fit into box? Sorry for all the questions!!!

Claffys – Your cake is lovely! (Though it was a big bow on the front till I looked at the bigger pic. Lol)

Wow your cakes are tall!!!

Not sure if they make them higher but my cake boards are also 12 inches and fit in my boxes perfectly. After christmas if you want me to post down one of my boxes to you then I will so you can give it a try?? up to you? Will have to be after christmas now though as I am really busy busy busy :( I always fold over the top of the cello and they arrive still looking nice (normally and touch wood!)

Thanks Candy I just cut the ribbon, tie a bow and glue it onto the cake.

Moonpenny - I only made 3 3 tier Christmas cakes and sold all 3. I didn't want to make up loads and be lumbered with them after Christmas. I thought that if the 3 tiers didnt sell I would use the toys on top to make smaller ones but fortunately it didn't come to that.
I delivered the pink one earlier and I'm hoping that will be it until after Xmas - I haven't got much time this week as I'm working every day until Christmas Eve.

Claffys - I love your cake :T and the tag is lovely x

    Thanks Rusty,
Just measured my cakes again and they measure 14 – 15 inch high before the toy (depending on the make of nappies) I think the problem is, some of my toys are tall and I also leave a bit of a gap above the toy when I cover with cello so it doesn’t squash everything. Thing is, I cant bend it over where bow is as it is too stiff and will spoil.
So kind of you to offer to post me a box but I will try and figure something out. Thanks anyway.

Posted a pic (sent on next post, my pc is playing up) of some 3 Tiers and Minis I took when I first started making them, Just to give you some idea of the size.

Shelley, I was surprised that your best selling xmas cakes were 3 Tiers. I thought people would go for smaller “themed” cakes.
It’s not the toys I am bothered about but the clothes. I only want to use sleepsuits in the 3 Tiers so was trying to figure out how many I would need. (Don’t want to be left with loads of “red “ outfits) Will use bodysuits, bibs, socks etc in the others.
    Thanks for input!

Hi! I posted a pic of some of the first cakes I made, last night and the pic was removed today. Can't find out why they do this or is it actually Photobucket and not the forum that removes them? Can anyone shed light on this? Thanks! (Not great at this techi stuff!)
