Hi Guys well 1 down 1 to go! Suffice to say it wasn't a roaring success! I sold one box of cupcakes! :rotfl: I had alot of interest though and probably gave out at least 60 brochures! A few that seemed very definate that they would be ordering off the website-Just have to get DH to get that up and running, even if it's just one page for now would be better than nothing. I was really pleased with the brochures and definately well worh doing. I reveiewed my prices before I went as well and decided to reduce them, My three tier is now £55 and retail cost of this would be at least £43 so aiming to make £12 on these which I think is reasonable.
Tuesday's Fayre is the one that I was really doing it all for as it is a completely different ball game so hopefully will pick up a few sales there. Definately finding though that people want to come back and order rather than take there and then. I'm going to have a basket filled with the contents of a 3 tier cake as I think it helps people to see the value for money when it's all there in front of them. Lots of admiring looks frompeople and really positive comments and lots of "I wish I knew someone having a baby" so that's good news at least.
Well done RF on the orders. Think if my sales continue like this we'd better hurry up and be sucessful in having a baby as have 400 odd size 3 pampers to use!:rotfl:

Well done Becs, that's 1 box of cupcakes more than I've sold :rotfl: Hmmmn, then again I haven't done any.
At least it was all positive stuff, and hopefully you will get the orders rolling in.

I know what you mean about 400 nappies, I've got bags of rolled nappies in the spare room. I've took apart all the 'squashed' cakes that I've brought back from Spain. Dread to think how much money's worth that is, let alone all the wasted cellofane (although did manage to recycle one lot).

Not a happy bunny this morning. Have finally got my computer back and I have just realised that I've left the memory card from the camera in OH's laptop ..... and he's not back until late Saturday. I need the piccies for my xmas cakes, I'll never get the leaflets finished!!!
OH is not really clued up IT wise, so I can guarantee he won't know how to email the piccies to me.
A creative mess is better than tidy idleness :D

Hi, this is my first post on here, but not my first visit! I've just recently made my first nappy cake for a family friends and she loved it ... got all embarrassed about it though lol! Anyhow, I've got the chance of doing a table at a local gym thats got an open evening on Thursday. Any ideas of what I need to be thinking of taking... how many cakes? Should I take some of my handmade birth congrats cards? Leaflets? How much should I charge? Really need help and would be truly grateful of any!

Hi i would take as many as you can what sort of things do you put in them and sizes do you do so we can see if we can help you with prices

Oh dear, I have gone a bit overboard on buying for H's cousin's cake, but I was so excited to find a massive 24-hour Asda only a 7-minute drive from our new house, and they had so much lovely stuff really cheap.
I got a 7-pack of bodysuits for £5, 3 patterned muslin cloths for £3, a little romper suit and hat reduced to £2.50, a fleece blanket for £3 and a cake base for 67p.
I also picked up a plush TY rocking horse soft toy, which I think was £1.49, a Hallmark baby blue leather keepsake wallet for 49p, two pairs of baby socks in Home Bargains for 50p, a lovely plush blanket for £2.99 and a boxed velour hooded towel and wash cloth for £2.99.
Can't wait to get started now!

Shame it's not an actual gift card (it comes by e-mail) - I'd have put it in my cake!
Thanks for the tip though, very useful.

Natbag, don't forget to post a pic of your cake when finished. I bought tsome of those lovely white towels from HB too. Wish I could stop buying but I keep seeing such lovely stuff.

Can you ladies who are doing stalls etc help with the ins and outs of what to do tax wise etc. I have only "sold" a few cakes to friends and family but am unsure how to go on about making it more "official" if I had an occasional stall etc.

Do you all do this or just see it as a "paying hobby"? Please any help on this matter would be appreciated.

I know - I have far too much for one cake thanks to my Home Bargains addiction, but I have two other expecting friends so hopefully at least one of them will have a boy so I can use the rest of it LOL!

I am keeping a log of outgoings and income and intend to submit a self assesment form. This will be on the basis of outgoings and income at the moment will probably entitle me to a tax rebate next year! I work full time so pay tax through that job which is why it's important for me to do a self assesment form. If I wasn't working I wouldn't bother as it would just be a paying hobby.

    Thanks Candy,
Sorry to hear about your photos and laptop, technology eh! My Dh is going to see if he can get a very very basic site online tonight in time for the fayre tomorrow, mainly so we can take his laptop and wireless internet connector so we can take credit card payments if asked.
