  • Ive got my school craft fair on friday aghhhhh!!!!! slightly panicing as i haven't finished all my cakes yet. still need to do some mimi ones. My postcards and buisness cards haven't turned up so will have to print some myself, i still have lables to do and i don't know what to charge  Should i just charge double what it cost or a little bit more? We are not in a big town and it is not well off so i know people won't want to pay. I was thinking £20 for a 3 tier is that too much or too little?
:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boys :)
Want to be fit for 30 not fat at 30
    but i want never gets!!!
  • I sell mine for £20 if there are just nappies and a couple of toiletries in them, if there are clothes in i charge £25 or £30..I live in a town that isnt too well off as well and I dont think I'd sell as many if they were any dearer
  • i did a school fair on saturday last week and the snowman and reindeer poop sold well, so did the reindeer flannels..in fact I had about ten left at the end and another stallholder who does crafty stuff bought them off me!! got an order for another nappy cake as well

I'm doing 2 school fayres next week on Thurs and Friday but I seem to have run out of everything at once and to be honest I could do without spending any more cash this month.

P.s Thanks Moonpenny for telling us about the 20% off at M&S I need to order some Xmas teddies.

  • Hiladies let me start by saying all your cakes are wonderful.

I have herd of nappy cakes before ad think they are great. Two nights ago i was just browsing MSE and came accross this thread, I have only read up to about the 20th page so far been so busy looking at all the great links people have posted. However i have really been itching to make my own cake so this afternoon i nipped out for some basic bits ( blanket, muslins, hats, booties) I already had nappies and wasnt bothered about the gifts for inside as i can get them at a later date. So i have been sat here for the last hour and have made my first ever cake.
It obviously still needs ribbon and few other things but what do you guys think?

    Hi all,

Well I did my first school fair on Tuesday night and what a flop! It was a flop for most people there so thankfully I wasnt the only one lol! I sold 2 cakes in the two hours enough to just about cover my costs. But managed to give out lots of brochures and people were definately interested atleast. My saviour were the flannel swiss rolls I made last minute before the fair- they went like hotcakes!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have another stall this saturday at a soft play center (free stall) so will hopefully generate some interest there too and another big fair at the reebok. I am going to make loads of swiss rolls for those! lol

I suppose with nappy cakes its all about getting your name out there and advertising rather than selling on the day. At the end of the day if people dont have people to buy for then you arent going to sell!

Loving the new cakes everybody and Rusty your newest cake is GORGEOUS and miles apart from your first ever one!

Right off to make Bob the builder and Roary racing car cakes....hmmmm wish me luck!:rotfl: :rotfl:

    B xx
