I was comparing the definitive nature of some replies with a definitive statement about companies posting in consumer forums, which is me making a point about factless, illogical posting.

And I'm not responsible for setting the price of a bottle of vinegar, IAmWhales. Maybe it's overpriced by £37 and is only worth £15.

Yet you chose to buy it. What attracts someone to a £52 bottle of vinegar, aside from some marketing gumph?

Guilty of changing my mind as a consumer. OK.

All of these criticisms are bizarre. A massive concentration of trolls. I'm going to check a few other regular help threads and see how many other people have received 'help'.

but the fact is you ordered a £52 bottle on vinegar and then waited for this to be delivered and then a sob story to the driver saying you dont want it, hoping to get it free as the driver does not want to take it back to store.
I thought drivers are just to deliver the goods and cannot say you can have items for free, just because you say you dont want it. If you did not want it then why order it in the first place.

It had to be waited to be delivered because it can't be cancelled after the deadline, and you're asking questions that have been answered 50 times already.

"a sob story" confirms what you people are here doing. Randomly attacking people.

So you missed the deadline to cancel, then that is your fault, so why should the company suffer, this is why deadlines are in place, to give you the chance to change your mind

Why should they suffer because an employee didn't do what they said?
  • I suspect it was because of the price of the item which you clearly knew......but which the driver didn't know, and who would think it would be £52? He could have lost his job for refunding that amount and letting you keep the item. Why didn't you tell him how much it was? Why didn't you insist on him taking it back?

Sorry OP, but this leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. You may have eventually got a refund but the supermarket will have flagged your account. We reap what we sow generally.

OP this is a money saving forum so the majority of people who post in it are low paid and don't have much spare cash.

A thread where someone is complaining about a £50 bottle of vinegar is going to rile them as they couldn't afford it themselves.

You should just retire gracefully, you've got your refund and have provided some useful information for people to follow if they are ever after a refund from Ocado themselves.

Why didn't he think for himself, and he could of come back to the door when he realised or was he lazy? If I'm flagged by a business for not spoon feeding their employees and being a surrogate manager, and it affects me doing future orders, then I'll just take my shopping elsewhere. There are so many people who think others shouldn't have their own thoughts and should be nursed.

Fair enough. I just wish they weren't so randomly accusative.

That is a bit of a generalisation, I suspect many people with a very good income visit this site.

I think many of those who have criticised/commented are coming from the viewpoint of fairness/unfairness. It feels unfair to me to have a refund for £52 for something you have kept and used, in the full knowledge that the driver made the refund comment when he wasn't in possession of all the pertinent facts.
