Refund promised by Ocado driver, used the item, refund never happened.

As this is a moneysaving forum one thing I would like to know is why did you buy £52 vinegar in the first place.
I'm not having a go and I have bought some very expensive food stuff in the past to see how good it really is. But this is something I can easily afford.
You said you needed the £52 to buy something else so why would you pay so much for vinegar when your so short of money ?
I'm genuinely interested in your reply.0 -
After I changed my mind on the item after having it delivered to the door which isn't unusual (like putting something back on the shop shelf before paying, which is allowed by Ocado), I was thinking of buying something elsewhere but couldn't because of the unexpected cost from what I thought was a goodwill gesture and a free item.0

If you don't have the money to buy something else, you can't afford it.
You shouldn't be spending your last £ on vinegar.0 -
I've shopped with Ocado for years now and I'm very surprised that this happened at all.
I've had damaged goods that I was given for free because they refunded the cost. A packet of squashed hot cross buns for instance.
I've sent back substitutes I didn't want and it's always been refunded.
I've also only ever ordered what I wanted. No buyers remorse for me.
No way would I accept a freebie of £52 worth of luxury goods. The very idea is ridiculous and I find it hard to believe that you thought the driver had the power to do this.
The delivery driver would have the same amount of work to do whether they took back the item or gave it as a freebie. They would still have had to update the receipt.
And lastly - £52 for vinegar!!!!0 -
Ocado should've refused refund, that offer of 50% was generous enough. Other customers will end up paying more of course. This shopper has scanned Ocado for sure.0

They fund the cost of unnecessarily shipping all this stuff about by charging more for everything to everybody. It's not a thing for you have fun using, ordering stuff then refusing it at the door. You're costing me money. Stop doing it.0 -

Couldn't agree more.
One of the many great things about online shopping is that you can take your time about ordering exactly what you want. No more impulse buys whilst walking the aisles. I've never had to return a single thing to Ocado due to change of mind and I think it must be relatively unusual to do this on a regular basis, which is what the op seems to suggest she does.0 -

Same here. Ocado are great and I have been given money back when things are damaged and allowed to keep the item. I am surprised Ocado are okay with lots of change of mind returns. The drivers don't get that long to make a delivery and that must add to their time. The Ocado website is better than the other supermarkets in terms of product information so you can tell whether the item is right for you before ordering. A friend of mine used to work for one of the other supermarkets that did used to flag people, but maybe Ocado are a bit more generous.0 -
OK, I've now taken a view of what the forum has to offer. Lets bring it to an end.0
