  • Hi there,

Haven't posted for a while for one reason or another.:(

Moved house last week.My business colleague who has been an absolute brick over the past few years had offered me the 3 bed semi he owns about a mile from where I used to live for a nominal rent so I moved in there last week. I'm still waiting for Virgin Media to sort out my broadband so for the moment, I'm resorting to using public libraries for my internet fix.

E moved back home two weeks ago. They say you should never go back in life and I should have listened to their advice. Things weren't the same as before so I decided that things should finish. Both of us were gutted, her especially, but life goes on and although her life isn't the best at the moment, I'm sure things will work out for both of us in the end.

I'll post more when time isn't an issue.

    Best wishes

    Martin

Right, time for an update to this dying thread.

Moved house about three weeks ago into a 3 bed semi owned by a friend / business colleague of mine who's been so very helpful over the past four years. I borrowed him, his van, his mate and his muscle for the move as a removal firm would have set me back close to £150. All it cost me was lunch for the three of us, about £12, and a fiver for diesel. I am all settled in now, well kind of, as I am still missing some bits and bobs. John lent me a smaller microwave ( as mine is so big it wouldn't fit under the wall units :p ), a washing machine ( so old that Moses used to wash his clothes in it :p ) and a tumble dryer. I had to find a fridge, a freezer, a vacuum, some wardrobes and lots of other stuff. I used my favourite website, gumtree.com and picked up a fridge for a tenner from two miles away and I spent a tenner on two double hanging rails instead of wardrobes. The rest of the stuff I'll buy as I go. This house will be a fairly temporary move as he's knocking it into flats in a few months but it allows me to get back on my feet a bit in the meantime.

Moneywise, I saved a packet by switching to Virgin Media. I was paying over £60 a month to BT and Sky but now, for £33.45, I have the same pretty much. I'm sticking with EDF Energy for the gas and the electric while I'm here as it wouldn't be worth the aggro of changing just for four or five months. I'll also get a shedload of Nectar points for re-registering with them at this new address.

I'm not going into the love situation on here as (a) it's boring and repetitive and (b) there's not a lot to say. E went back 6/7 weeks ago and since then the fibbing has stepped up in seriousness and frequency so I decided to cut all contact. Easy enough at this end but not always possible at the other end IYKWIM. Just to add to the general malaise, my ex g/f ( the twins mum ) had to end her rel'ship on Sunday as her b/f was being violent so she has moved in temporarily ( not in that way...:A ) with her daughter and the twins. This will only be for a short time while she finds another suitable property.

Still awake? Good. Then I'll continue. The plan for the next four months is to get my head down, work hard ( especially in February when the HD catalogues come out ) and pay some debts off. I'm going to put my remaining debts in the hands of the CCCS to get some organisation to them. HD (Home Delivery) normally offer around 1,500 catalogues for me to deliver at 41p each ( around £600 ) but if I get my a** into gear and push for a local area, I could get 3,000 done which would earn circa £1,200. John has some ideas to push my business forward a bit also so it might look a bit brighter come a few weeks time.

Also planning on losing weight. I'm almost exactly 20 stone this morning which sounds bad but I'm 6'4" tall so don't look it. I'm 40 in May and I know I'll have more trouble getting it off after then so I'm doing a sponsored slim in aid of the twins' football team. An under-7's team never seem to have enough training equipment, matchday stuff, footballs etc so I'm doing it in aid of the teams bank account...:o

That's it really. Sorry it's such a long read but once I start waffling, I just can't stop. Things should be shorter once I start waffling on a daily basis so will be easier to follow.

    Happy new year everyone!

Good to see you back mac, some good news there and some bad but that's life I suppose! Happy new year and happy new home, I hope things go well for you these year but you're sounding positive so far. It's nice your ex can rely on you despite you being apart.

Thanks all. Grand plans? I'm not so sure, I'd rather think of them as little steps towards living some sort of semi-normal life really and trying hard to get organised. People like Benbenandme are ultra-organised despite being single parents yet I can't achieve that despite being on my own for five days out of seven....

Anyway, positive start to the year. Filled in the new HB and CTB form for this place. My income from self-employment is small so I have to top up with HB, I'll take the form down tomorrow to the office rather than post it.

Didn't even go out of the house today, naughty me. Spent nothing so nothing to report.... :D
