Hi all,
Did the weekly shop yesterday. Dd wanted berries to make a nice fruit salad, so I couldn't say no to that, but otherwise we did well and stuck to the list. £11.14 spent, so it's down to the wire next week! Less than £10 left, for a weekly shop. This is doable, especially as the children are with their dad next weekend, so I can shop carefully. It does mean, though, that I need the rest of the days to be nsds, not even any ys shopping trips. I'm determined for this month to be the month I stick to it! It's been well over a year that I managed it...!!

Actually, looking carefully at my signature, I've realised that I only have £1.93 left!! Bread =45p, milk =79p, so that's £1.24...

Oh bless. Your budget is definately doable, but it really is quite low, £100pm, so seriously, well done. It's taken me so long to be able to come in on budget, I really mean that. I'm a food shopaholic, mentally, but I have learned how to control it. I think you r doin well. xx

OK so this week grocery spend has been £64.55 and that was with DH. Got lots of stuff we don't normally buy. Leaves £52.66 left until Friday.

Next month I will put our total down as this was too high and really easy to achieve.
Let's be happy!!

Went to the shops yesterday evening to buy bread, which we needed, and dinner stuff for me, which we didn't need. As a result we now have 77p left and need to buy milk.

I'm going to try and do damage control to keep the overspends this month as low as possible.

Hi all, a bit late with week4 post - should have been last Thursday :rotfl: - I have been here just not posting!
purpleybat your post did make me chuckle!

I have now gone over budget. I kept last weeks shop to a minimum just buying fresh veg, then a couple of little extra top ups.
I’ve realised this is an ideal time to re-inventory my freezer and work out a meal plan to use up everything so I can FINALLY defrost it! And do you know what, I've managed to do one! A decent one as well! Using those few bits of veg I bought last Thursday, plus freezer and stores, I can feed myself (and well and healthily) up until Sunday which is perfect AND my freezer will be essentially empty so I can defrost it!
I couldn't quite accommodate girls night on Wednesday when I feed my mum and sister, into this, so I'm going to do sort of a Greek salad, and make tofetta as I have lots of plain tofu. So I'll need some tomatoes, a red onion, lemons and a garlic (I have olives and cucumber and tofu and olive oil). I have some tiny mini pittas in the freezer to go with it if it needs bulking out, or I could do some quinoa or bulgar wheat.
Therefore my week 5 shop will be today rather than Thursday as I need the stuff for tomorrow, and the garlic and lemons for tonight to get my tofu marinating.

In other news, I’ve just had a job role change (not a promotion, but a change I’ve wanted for ages and I’m SO excited about it!!) and even better, a small payrise, which kicks in this payday, so I guess they’ve backdated it a month, so I’ll get that on Monday when I get paid. It’s not loads, but it’s enough to make things a little less tight, so I’m very pleased. Still need to try and get/keep groceries down though!

£29.99 on fruit, veg, milk, yoghurt & ice lollies today + £15.50 on clothes for myself. The weather has exposed how little summer stuff I have!

The clothes will come out of my pocket money so grocery fund down to the last £26. 83. This needs to last another 10 days. I think it's doable - fingers crossed.

• Didn't get a chance to post anything last week.
Couple of shops £15.25 & £49.25 at the Co-op bringing me up to £277.01 so far.

Only £22.99 left for the month, think I'll end up over but shouldn't be by much fingers crossed.

£4.13 in Aldi at lunchtime for my Week 5 Shop - sunstream tomatoes, red onions, lemons (4 individual at 28p each as they were twice the size of the ones in the bag and only 1.5p more expensive each!), and bread.. Forgot garlic so popping to little T3sco after work to grab some (grr), but apart from that, that'll be me done for the month, about £25 over but I've done so much worse in previous months I'm not too bothered.

For those interested, this weeks meal plan is as follows - using up freezer bits to defrost at the weekend:

Mon L - Carrot, Tarragon and White Bean Soup
Tue - Fri L - Vegetable "tortilla" soup - basically a spicy veg soup with sweetcorn and black beans - I happened to have the veg needed and the s/corn and cooked black beans were in the freezer!
Mon D - Vegetable Fingers, jacket potato (small!), roast courgette, aubergine and red onion
Tue D - Vegetable and Pineapple Curry (really recommend adding pineapple - game changer!)
Wed D - "Greek" salad with homemade tofetta (tofu marinated in tons of lemon juice, olive oil, garlic and dried oregano, then I like to bake it... so good!!)
Thu D - Mushroom and lentil pasta sauce over... well, pasta
Fri D - 1 mushroom and 1 beetroot burger, with roast butternut and steamed broccoli, and maybe some peas, possibly wedges if really hungry!
Sat D - Vegetable and chickpea stew with rice or jacket
Sun D - Any veg leftovers, with tofu or beans if needed, grains if needed

It's basically all single portions of random stuff I've made, along with fresh veg!
