The quicker you provide info the quicker they assess it.
Once this is assessed it will rejig your payments for Council Tax to take into account any benefit received so that will help from 1st January onwards.
Also with the Housing Benefit it should pay weekly so as soon as that is awarded they will send a lump sum of all the weeks and then pay every week into the rent account so that will lower the expected payments.
I have, however today's calculations with the homeless welfare shows I'm not entitled to either based on getting Working Tax Credit in my Tax credits. Will see what they say though, they have everything they need.0 -
Sorry for all the posts but just trying to group my comments by subject.
I think it is right to use your daughters DLA for household bills, your daughter gets DLA to help with extra costs associated to her disability and you needing to take time off work to care for her is a cost associated with her disability.0 -

I don't know what calculator they use but Tax Credits from April 2017 is restricted to 2 children and some online calculators now only count the first two children you put in so it can look like you have no entitlement but actually it is the calculator that is wrong.
Plus of course you have not been earning your normal wage so your wages are lower than normal.
If you want me to do a proper calculation at work tomorrow I can do - just PM me with the exact amount of Tax Credits you get and your wages figure and I will do the calculation and PM you back.0 -

As someone above said the creditors will write the debt off if you can give them a crime reference number and I now you are hesitant to involve the police but it will be worth it.
I am in Suffolk and see a lot of people who are victims of ID theft and when this has been reported to the police they are not that interested as technically the person who has had their ID stolen has not been a victim of fraud, it is the companies which gave them the credit that are the victims as they are the ones who are out of pocket.
My clients are told to contact Action Fraud and report it to them and they then get a reference number to pass on to the creditors.
My understanding is that Action Fraud just collates data and every so often something sparks their interest and people get arrested etc.
Would it be worth giving Action Fraud a call - https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ and chat to them confidentially? You don't have to give any details if you don't want to but they may be able to advise about what to do about the creditors.
I know that making a payment arrangement has eased the pressure but if you don't have to pay it back why would you?
Will call them and see what they say. Right now I don't want to do anything that will get back to the person. The repayment plans are tiny and just to keep them quiet why I think about the next steps. Thank you I will definitely call them.0 -

When I worked part time and received working tax credits I was still eligible for both, I did only work 16 hours at minimum wage though.Change the way you see things and the things you see will change0 -

Just wondering if you could claim carer's allowance . You can earn a certain amount and claim, but not sure whether it would make any difference or whether it would just decrease your tax credits. I am hoping EE could advise.0

Lots of good advice and support from EE and others... Thank you folksBUGGRITMILLENIUMHANDANDSHRIMP I TOLD EM! - Foul Ole Ron
It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Hi Busy
You can only earn £116 per week if you claim Carers Allowance and Hidden has a contract at work for more than that so its a no go for now.
Thanks for thinking of it.0
