  • I have used it :o
There's £150 in there. We have 14 appointments she has to attend between now and her next payment including 3 at least overnights/2 days. So I need to make sure I can cover these obviously. I doubt it will cost this much however who knows how long we will be there. We've been to routine day appointments that led to a 5 day stay. This is our first winter out of hospital and she's so up and down I know it could be at any time we are back in. She's still unwell now, on more antibiotics and steroids etc hence so many appointments. I have however dipped into that account to cover bills. Obviously my wage was shocking as I haven't worked and next month will be similar. I get paid the 18th of the month.

I have no assets of anything. I don't have anything to ebay. I have one set of clothes, one pair of shoes :o I do wash them though ;) So nothing to ebay from there.

We don't have the latest phones/tablets etc. DS has an Xbox that was a gift from a grandparent.

Surveys are dry. I have £8 in PA and nearly £4 pending. I have had no internet to do them (Only topping my phone up by £5 a month so have to be careful) and I haven't been visiting mums/sisters to get on and do them on the computer. I find it's limited on the phone. However £65 has been cashed out and due for the 1st Dec from Pureprofile and Onepoll.

I think I answered everything if not sorry :o

Please no judgement on using the DLA to top up the wages to pay bills this month. I will repay it before she needs it.

Oh Christmas cheque the last Working Friday before Xmas it's due usually around the 20th. I stupidly pay the fee to cash the cheque to cover Xmas :o All the confessions appearing today.
  • No judgement at all. The DLA is there to do exactly what you've used it for. It was just a suggestion.
This is not the best idea, I know, but just in the short term could your family help out?

I will ask at some point. There's only Step-Dad and I feel bad when he's just helped with the 'new debt'

I will find it somehow or I will do what EE suggested and hope I get someone reasonably understanding :o

I am really heading back now so I will try and catch up again later. x
  • I understand how you feel (been in a similar although not nearly as bad position many years ago}. Your Step-Dad seems like a really kind man. Would it help if you explained to him (as much or as little as you want to) and ask if all else fails if he would help out. It might, at least, take a little of the pressure off you short term if you know the help is there as a last resort.
I would, though, definitely take the advice of people like EE to try to sort this out long term.
There will be a way, Hidden.

  • I hope you manage to find enough money to cover your council tax etc, I know how worried you must be.

I would definitely use the DLA money to get you through this crisis and then you can repay it later.

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

  • If you put in a claim for Housing and Council Tax Benefit have you provided all the info to them?
The quicker you provide info the quicker they assess it.

Once this is assessed it will rejig your payments for Council Tax to take into account any benefit received so that will help from 1st January onwards.

Also with the Housing Benefit it should pay weekly so as soon as that is awarded they will send a lump sum of all the weeks and then pay every week into the rent account so that will lower the expected payments.
  • Thank you, I won't rush into anything right now. I've spoken to them and I've arranged a payment plan for now. I can't fault how helpful they where.

Just catching up with the issue with ex taking out credit in your name.

As someone above said the creditors will write the debt off if you can give them a crime reference number and I now you are hesitant to involve the police but it will be worth it.

I am in Suffolk and see a lot of people who are victims of ID theft and when this has been reported to the police they are not that interested as technically the person who has had their ID stolen has not been a victim of fraud, it is the companies which gave them the credit that are the victims as they are the ones who are out of pocket.
My clients are told to contact Action Fraud and report it to them and they then get a reference number to pass on to the creditors.
My understanding is that Action Fraud just collates data and every so often something sparks their interest and people get arrested etc.

Would it be worth giving Action Fraud a call - https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ and chat to them confidentially? You don't have to give any details if you don't want to but they may be able to advise about what to do about the creditors.

I know that making a payment arrangement has eased the pressure but if you don't have to pay it back why would you?
